  1. Some trains do run late!
  2. I'm for the 124, but it would be interesting to have a set with a 124 cab at one end and a Swindon at the other end, as per prototypes!
  3. Very much welcome the development of this class of loco, although the first 'skinheads' appear to be missing at the moment. The auto uncoupling is the the outstanding item in this model, hopefully it will be spread across future releases, when the appropriate pcbs and dcc s/w are brought into use. Auto uncoupling in Blue Pullmans and EMU/DMUs would be most welcoming, not to mention coach rakes, for instance Pullmans. I note that SYE are missing, is this on account of AS releases, I wonder? Where the auto uncoupler is concerned, the loco may well uncouple, but what of the attached coach/wagon, that will need the 'hand of god'. Accidental uncoupling can happen when there is only one coupling actively engaged.
  4. Nope, can't agree. But, each to his own. I have three areas which have polarity changes, handled beautifully by dcc. It depends just where and how you want to get there.
  5. Good to see Hornby getting a thumbs up in this respect.
  6. My old teacher training days spent in the Lakes, intention of getting a job there...dead man shoes. Huh! Glad to see the sub-type appearing in full (D2 and D10, next year, perhaps?)
  7. Got my D6702 joining its class mate D6703. Nice runner, beautiful sound. It's an interesting representation of just pre-TOPS with loco info panels and shed code adorning the side. The only query I have is over the head code lighting, which is minimalist to say the least. It could do with turning up a fraction, any ideas anybody. The other lighting, namely cab and control panel is superlative.
  8. Aargh! This is getting expensive; I already have D1,D3,D8.....looks like D5, D6 and D9 will have to join them. It is a conspiracy.
  9. Unfortunately, I passed on my original run models, can anybody advise of second run model's details?
  10. Ah, that brings back some memories for me, when I was a colonial, Nairobi to Mombasa! We had to detrain to get to the restaurant car. If I remember the NRM had a large gauge (5 or 7") model of one such loco at the time.
  11. That's a surprise, the one in BR lined green looks inviting; pity a 4-COR set couldn't be done at the same time.........
  12. Hi, I have since found out that there was a Q1 release in 2018, apparently an upgrade. I can't see the difference from such available photos, although it is stated that it is dcc ready (8 pin) and it appears to have a wired loco to tender connection. Anybody confirm this?
  13. Thanks for the response! I've had Hornby Q1s but they were let down by the drag bar, on which I carried out a none too brilliant modification. They have been passed onto other users now. I would like an upgraded/modernised model of one (well, several) to be brought into production.
  14. Damn, or whoopeee. Another 9F , probably 92060, joining my collection soon. 92002 (B), 92116 (B),92220(H) already doing service. As with others, I wonder why both companies are doing 92097. Nice to hear the sound effects are pleasing.
  15. Now, let me see: WR 1. County 1xxx, 4-6-0; 2. Collett 2251, 0-6-0. SR. 1. Q1 0-6-0; 2. U 2-6-0. LMS. 1. Jubilee, 45552, 4-6-0; 8F, 48xxx, 2-8-0. There, that's six locos.
  16. Nearer £480 I would have thought. If coming from Accurascale it would be a fine model, to be sure. However, I wouldn't be surprised if KR Models turned up with it, given their trend at present (Lickey Incline loco).
  17. Yep so, but I wish they would, or someone would, produce one with a decent drawbar to the tender. That would be great. Unfortunately I sold my three on.
  18. Good luck to Simon, 'though differences we may have had, ones which I won't trail on here! May just see him over at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway, of which he is an Honorary VP.
  19. Is it the power of the internet, or what? Ellis-Clark announce Quad-Arts, with bells and whistles included, so it seems.
  20. Yeah, dead on there. I was 'drafted' to Ridley Hall in '69. What an idyllic place, though a fair old walk to the pub! Teacher training in Longtown, Keswick and Workington. I'm pleased somebody at least knows of Ridley Hall.
  21. There's irony of sorts. After arriving back in Blighty from abroad with my parents I came to live in Chesterfield; some years later I use to drive past Consett on my way to the Teacher Training College outpost near Bardon Mill (A former Bowes-Lyon residence). I had taken the train to Newcastle, but getting to Bardon Mill by my favourite mode of transport was really an impossibility to do regularly, although on one such trip before changing to the car I had the great view of Mallard heading to Newcastle.
