The specialist traders of old have now gone on line or disappeared. Unless at specialist shows you are not likely to see them.

And there is the Wakefield Model Railway Show as well

Look forward to receiving mine!

I had a phone call from UEA Prostate cancer research project and Eleanor, the contact there, did confirm that although the website page had been refreshed the links as shown in my book do still work. However when I went on it was the new page. She did say that she could spot the book donations as they were mainly from Yorkshire. Suggested that could email the donations department and make clear who the money is for. However since the idea of the book was to raise donations for prostate research showing it was for Alan’s memory is a secondary aspect. Helping doctors decide the most appropriate treatment is the priority. still have some copies. Story 1 - Call out - big derailment down at Monkton Colliery sidings, Stan Symthe is out on another job. Fog - another shift as fog man for John Rider Wash out at Royston Shed. Based on the sequence of events in wash out of an engine The Colliery Yard Shunter - back at Monkton Colliery once more. free post and packing.

Broken handset has reduced running- sticky commonly used keys causing commands not to function reduced running on layout. However recently picked up sound equipped F3 a and b units in what seem to be near mint condition means really need to find a solution -
I have had a reply from the university saying the website had been refreshed but donations to the link in the book was still valid and they confirmed donations had been received. I encourage people to donate via the link as that means I do not handle cash. I have lodged a call to the university next week to talk through the issue. Will update then.

A friend died of prostate cancer and the university we both went to is researching into a method of testing for the cancer in such a way it informs the doctors of the best routes for treatment. It is due to start clinical trials in 2024 subject to the official approval. I wrote a series of books called Railway Tales during covid lockdowns passed on Royston South Yorkshire in the 1960s. The books are available in lieu of a donation to the research project.

Did one at Severn Valley, helped prepare the engine and in pairs took turns firing and driving. Rest of family rode in one of the carriages behind. A super day. Was expensive but am ever going to own a steam engine or have enough Years to train?

A couple will be running on Wakefield RMS new layout Bardun

You have not said where he put it.
-
Yes it is a very nice model

My Hunslet has returned back from Rapido and now is a much better runner with it moving much more freely through points and much improved when running on DCC.

Taken opportunity of wife absence to take over the kitchen and work on layout. All back scene now in place plus end. Basic scenery in place and although end wall too massive in the spirit of making do with bits to hand in place.

Stock looked great. Will be great to see it all operational at this year’s Wakefield Show

Yes and a very fine layout it was. -

Having a look at the carriages in more detail and it seems Set A contains carriages and B more specialised stock such as diner and sleeping car and baggage car. 4th car is an observation type. There are no interiors but with modelling licence they will fit the bill. -

I knew of only one other modeller who had a Monon layout, I am sure there must be more but strange not having seen any Monon stock there has been a number of items. Today took delivery of something I have never seen ever since collecting and modelling and that is Monon passenger stock. Con Cor. Looks like CHIRM will be moving as an imaginary depot on the last passenger route that Monon ran. The last train ran in 1967 and I have stock now to run behind my high bonnet C420. looks like the set dates back to the early 1980s as a flyer for Model Railroader at 3 dollars 95 was in the box. -

Did not realise it has been so long since posting but lots of running time in 2022 in the coolness of the garage. rationalisation of the stock has taken place and have managed to purchase some missing stock. 50ft flat car completes the quarry stone car. The box suggests it was a limited run version. Reefers replace a couple that were not likely to be seen even on an imaginary layout. -
Ah!
