  1. Excellent 09 ! You inspired me to buy one to ! Bluebird.
  2. I know Ive said it before, but this layout especially the sidings area really 'looks' like South Wales, I dont know what it is but I can really 'feel' the down in the heelness of the place. I think you need a line up of brand new EWS Class 66's fresh from Newport Docks Excellent mate, Bluebird.
  3. Speak for yourself mate !!! I remember at least two vans being burnt out in East Usk and the one Portabello Level Crossing (Near the Hospital in newport). The latter was burnt out so many times I think they (EWS/Transrail) gave up in the end and left it there !. Bluebird.
  4. Shouldnt one or both of those brake vans be burnt out in proper South Wales style ? Excellent layout mate...one day....one day !. Bluebird.
  5. Your regions traction availability must be very low! All those locomotives stood down on depot for repairs ! Excellent layout, cant get over the size!.....I must say the 60's sadly to look at home in the depot. Bluebird.
  6. I dont know what to say ??? excellent work doesnt cover it ! Looks just like Toton with those supports and 60's!. I like the picture of the 60 on the blocks with the platforms around it. Bluebird.
  7. £15.00ish at Hatttons. I 'only' require about 4-5 !!! the benifits of a small layout Bluebird.
  8. Bachmann website states Aug/Sep so more like back end of the year. Bluebird.
  9. Quote from Bachmann.. Many thanks for your email regarding the BAA Steel Coil Carrier Wagons. I have checked with our Research & Development Team and the loads are removable. I trust that this information will be of interest. Dennis Lovett Public Relations Manager Bachmann Europe Plc
  10. They shouldnt come off either when they are loaded, but they do !!! . Margam Lackenby via Llanwern en route between Severn Tunnel Junction and Lydney a loaded steel coil train lost a coil at close to 60mph !!!! The erent coil was left in situ down the embankment for several months after the incident !. That gives me an idea for a little cameo !!! . Ive email Bachmann asking the situatution, so when/if they get back I'll post on here. Bluebird.
  11. By the look of the wagon, the caddles look not to be secured to the wagon. So you will be able to use the vehicle for slab work as well. My only concern with this is that the caddle wont be secure on the wagon when shunting etc and might slip off Llanwern style !. I will drop Bachmann a line and ask, if that is poss? Bluebird.
  12. Snap mate, they look excellent !.......my choice to model a steel terminal is paying off alright, BAA, BDA with loads 2011 looks like a good year for modern era modellers again!. Bluebird,
  13. Kettles boil water to make steam, the hot water is then used to make tea etc. It still produces Steam like the boiler of a steam locomotive the only difference is a steam locomotive boilder uses the steam to produce motion. I dont like the OP was attempting to demean what is one of if not the most important techical stepping stone in the mankind?. Regards. Bluebird.
  14. Thanks gents, doesnt sound to bad after all that. Time to do it myself now!!! Bluebird.
  15. Hello, Ive designed a trackplan for my new layout, but in order to save space I would like to use a double slip point instead of three normal points. Im using DCC the whole look of the Double Slip even using normal power method looks very scary let alone with DCC!. Im also very new to model railway wiring so would someone who has a double slip be kind enough to give some advice on the wiring of them please? Are they best avoid? Should I use a electrofrog unit or a isloated frog ? Ive search the forum and cant find a topic about the slip only the crossing. Kind Regards Bluebird.
  16. A fellow London Midland Imate Hello ! Bluebird.
  17. I have the unlucky pleasure of working on these horrid trains every working day!. BUT I will be buying in Silverlink Grey/Blue colours. I suspect should this model sell well the 450 would be considered, as for the 360/1 & 360/2 plus the 444 there is very little chance as a full retool for the 444 and a new front end for the 360's would be required. Im surprised they didnt do the 450 first what with the interest in the 3rd scene since the CEP was released. With regards to the ADtranz/Bombardier Electrostars I think Bachmann would be best placed for a model already having the basic tooling for the Turbostar units. However the only real direct electric version the 357 IIRC longer then the 170 vehicles. The same problem a new front end and innner vehicles may see the 375/377 units kicked into the long grass. But saying that a 172 model ???? LOROL and Chiltern have the same build but LM have a end door version on order. Interesting times ahead, seeing as most if not all the feasible model locomotives have been made/announced DMU/EMU area is the next big showground. Bluebird.
  18. Those were the days !!!! 37's 56's 60's bliss Bluebird.
