The album of photographs shows my new Class 50 Locomotive "Agincourt" with its lit carriages. Here is the album http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/3696-wickness-class-50/ Owning a business there is little time to work on anything of your own but I took the plunge on a recent holiday and bought the locomotive and 5 carriages which are indicative of the setup I remember as a child going through Lockerbie Station, for now its just loco and carriages but hopefully the project will develope

Here is the new loco running with its new lit coaches

A small facebook article on the Dapol Class 66 conversion which is one of the very best chassis motor combinations in n gauge, not suitable for sound but it really doesn't matter, article on this link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1050960428267628.1073741838.173778212652525&type=1

This is an early Poole chassis model fitted with gaugemaster dcc92 decoder and marwick brush. The model has a brass drive gear and surprisingly copper pickups which look like they have been a replacement for the original silver ones as the lower plate retention screw is cosmetic, there is no chassis screw hole in which to insert it so it has been cut short at some point. It runs remarkably well on dcc as can be seen here https://youtu.be/-gGwGoswxpE

Does anyone know the exact vintage of the model?

While we were developing the recent Wickness Soundscape dcc sound projects we started to do some work on the computer control and wireless control aspects of the ECoS 50200 controller. As we explored this we found the possibilities to be literally boundless in relation to the technology and devices that most people already have in there own home with the use of an ECoS 50200 as supplied.

Essentially the ECoS is a computer which can be connected to your own home network, just connect it via network cable to your router and it is assigned an ip address on your home network. You can then install freely available VPN software on your computer or a VPN app on your mobile device ie phone or tablet computer to control the ECoS either wirelessly via phone or tablet or via desktop or laptop computer with your mouse.

By using the VPN software you are effectively mirroring the ECoS touch screen on your device. By doing this so you can walk around your layout with tablet in hand controlling all trains in any location without actually touching your ECoS controller.

In the video below you can see a Wickness Soundscape Class 67 loco which is being controlled simultaneously by the method described above via the ECoS 50200 itself(updated with current firmware), by a mobile phone, and by a computer.

This can be done with any ECoS as supplied, best to update the firmware of course, all you need is a network cable to connect it to your home wireless router. Wickness models will shortly be publishing documents on correct setup method within the Wickness Vault

I recently converted an O Gauge Ixion Hudswell Tank Loco to dcc sound following(loosely) the recent article in Hornby Magazine. The results were excellent as you can see in the following video. I followed the article with a few slight changes in that I used a Zimo LS10X15S speaker for the second speaker located under the pcb and the speaker located in the designated chamber was a QSI SP075 0.75" from Digitrains. The Decoder used was an MX645R with J94 sound project again from Digitrains. The original article didn't quite make clear how the second speaker was fitted so I've included a picture of this below, also a picture of the some of the pipework which needs to be removed to access the boiler area where the chip is located, this is particularly fragile and so needs to be removed and replaced with great care. Finally a picture of the QSI speaker in position before the lower plate is refitted(this was fitted by filing away some of the plastic in the cavity which enabled an easy fit insulated with a little insulation tape.

    Picture 1 The Zimo Speaker

    Picture 2 The Fragile Pipework

    Picture 3 The QSI Speaker

Here is the video test run, some work needs done on the chuff rate but the running and sound levels are superb

This is a K2057 DJ Models 2-4-0WT Beattie Well Tank DCC Sound Conversion from Wickness Models. Currently available as dcc ready from Kernow Models. The loco is converted using a Zimo MX648 sound decoder using Youchoos Sugarcurve 7 speaker. This keeps the decoder and speaker in the boiler area preventing anything visible in the cab. Excellent sound by YouChoos

This is Lenz' additional basic XpressNet Handset. The LH01 will work with LZV100 command station on Version 3.6. Use in conjunction with the LA152 Adapter to expand your Lenz System The design is minimalistic in order to give the greatest functionality for the least price. The LH01 Handset has a 4 digit display and one large control knob that works like a games consol control or a system control in a prestige car - the rotary knob can also be pressed in four directions and pressed in the middle so that you can enter the menues. In this way Lenz can offer a high specification for a low price:

The most recent range of Graham Farish small diesel locomotives are excellent on dcc. The new chassis type with enclosed can motor is capable of producing genuine shunting speeds in n gauge. Converting these to dcc is both affordable and very worthwhile
Please have a look at the link below

We've recently been working on some new sound projects, whilst doing this we decided to do some specific work on the use of Loksound with the NCE Powecab specifically because so many people in the uk use this system and many find problems accessing higher level functions for use with sound. The result is a document designed to show how to access these functions and operate the Powercab with a 28 function Soundscape project. In essence the document does however gives a good insight into the way to set up the Powercab for multifunction use so its published here, hopefully a good reference document

This sound project is a collaboration between Wickness Models and Marks Trains, the project incorporates all the benefits of our RealDrive Projects and includes specialist ambient soundscape of your choice. This model shows many of the features including multiple playable horns on a single function, the soundscape and the two separate soundtracks for Electric and Diesel running. Here is the Sound Bulletin with extended instructions on prototypical lighting https://wicknessmodels.co.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/RealDrive-73-Airport.pdf
