  1. This is a Wickness Soundscape Class 17 Ribble Cement. The loco is converted with a Loksound V4 Micro decoder and 2 Sugar cube speakers located at each end, driver fitted and cab light although a little difficult to see in the light in the video
  2. We now have a few samples of the special soundscape functions on the site. Scroll to the bottom of the Soundscape decoder page to play some samples of the special soundscape sounds which can be loaded onto each soundscape decoder in addition to the extensive loco sounds https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/…/soundscape-loksound-deco…
  3. A small facebook article on the Dapol Class 66 conversion which is one of the very best chassis motor combinations in n gauge, not suitable for sound but it really doesn't matter, article on this link https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1050960428267628.1073741838.173778212652525&type=1 Test run below
  4. Some shunters pre converted for sale https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/shop/dcc-locos/dcc-converted-locos
  5. We have a couple of these for sale
  6. Its perhaps clearer on the N Gauge Demo, same soundtrack, the OO gauge volume was turned up very high https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAmgMh9cFuc
  7. This is an odd comment, there is synchronised gear changing all through the video, the model goes through 4 to 5 gear changes in each direction which can be heard clearly
  8. This is a Wickness Soundscape Class 108 DMU OO Gauge. The model is a Bachmann 108 DMU unit fitted with Wickness Soundscape Loksound V4 and a large bass reflex Zimo LS2040V speaker. The video demonstrates the driveability via throttle response, curve squeal function, intelligent rail clank which is in sync with the throttle, multiple horns and special sounds. This project comes with hedgerow sounds as standard plus choice of one other
  9. Good stocks of SW Digital Udrive Decoders At Wickness Models https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/…/loksound-decoders-by-sou… Loksound V4 Sound Decoders Loksound V4 DCC Sound Decoders WICKNESSMODELS.CO.UK
  10. The Wickness Soundscape range of decoders on Loksound is increasing, we now have Class 37, 47, 66, 67, 57 and 17, coming soon are a 108 DMU, Class 24-25 and Class 40 https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/shop/sound-decoders-2/soundscape-loksound-decoders
  11. Ane Model are a good quality Taiwanese company who have struggled to break into the uk market in decoders for a few years despite making a good value product, originally the decoders did come with no hard reset function but they corrected that problem a couple of years ago, you can read about them here https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/shop/decoders/anemodel-decoders and the current manual is available as a download in the Wickness Vault
  12. A video of a recent Union Mills LMS Cauliflower conversion with a Lenz Silver Mini Decoder. Union Mills models are excellent on dcc running because of the weight of the full metal chassis and shell, we convert the models by installing a lenz silver mini decoder in the tender. Some tender modification is necessary but this ensures that the model runs as originally intended on analogue but using dcc control. The Lenz silver mini decoder produces excellent slow running results There is an article on the conversion on the Wickness site here https://www.wicknessmodels.co.uk/wickness-information/specific-manufacturers-on-dcc/union-mills-locomotives
  13. This video shows how to How To Set Up Loksound and Lokpilot DCC Locomotives With The ECoS 50200 DCC Controller. The railcom autodetect function on the ECoS will self address any loco fitted with any ESU Loksound or Lokpilot decoder, and this is a simple function you can use to address any new loco without fuss. This video goes further however showing you how to customise your loco, with unique 4 figure address, unique name, unique picture and location in the ECoS roster of your choice
  14. This is Wickness Models Layout In Action, we are often asked if we use the layout to run trains and to be honest it is very rarely but it was great fun setting this run up over the weekend. Everything here is running on European DCC equipment, predominantly ESU control and Loksound, Lokpilot decoders, with some Lenz , Zimo and Uhlenbrock control and decoder assistance, great fun!
  15. The new Wickness Class 17 Soundscape project

    Class 50

The album of photographs shows my new Class 50 Locomotive "Agincourt" with its lit carriages. Here is the album http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/3696-wickness-class-50/ Owning a business there is little time to work on anything of your own but I took the plunge on a recent holiday and bought the locomotive and 5 carriages which are indicative of the setup I remember as a child going through Lockerbie Station, for now its just loco and carriages but hopefully the project will develope Here is the new loco running with its new lit coaches
  17. While we were developing the recent Wickness Soundscape dcc sound projects we started to do some work on the computer control and wireless control aspects of the ECoS 50200 controller. As we explored this we found the possibilities to be literally boundless in relation to the technology and devices that most people already have in there own home with the use of an ECoS 50200 as supplied. Essentially the ECoS is a computer which can be connected to your own home network, just connect it via network cable to your router and it is assigned an ip address on your home network. You can then install freely available VPN software on your computer or a VPN app on your mobile device ie phone or tablet computer to control the ECoS either wirelessly via phone or tablet or via desktop or laptop computer with your mouse. By using the VPN software you are effectively mirroring the ECoS touch screen on your device. By doing this so you can walk around your layout with tablet in hand controlling all trains in any location without actually touching your ECoS controller. In the video below you can see a Wickness Soundscape Class 67 loco which is being controlled simultaneously by the method described above via the ECoS 50200 itself(updated with current firmware), by a mobile phone, and by a computer. This can be done with any ECoS as supplied, best to update the firmware of course, all you need is a network cable to connect it to your home wireless router. Wickness models will shortly be publishing documents on correct setup method within the Wickness Vault
  18. This is a K2057 DJ Models 2-4-0WT Beattie Well Tank DCC Sound Conversion from Wickness Models. Currently available as dcc ready from Kernow Models. The loco is converted using a Zimo MX648 sound decoder using Youchoos Sugarcurve 7 speaker. This keeps the decoder and speaker in the boiler area preventing anything visible in the cab. Excellent sound by YouChoos
  19. Recently been updating some of the pictures for the Port Road Website, the pictures and artcles for the Dumfries to Castle Douglas Station are now mainly there and can be accessed from this link http://www.theportroad.co.uk/index.php/port-road-galleries/dumfries-to-castle-douglas. One of the notable exceptions is "Southwick Halt" which has proven very challenging to photograph but there are some pictures coming soon, also many more maps and narrative on each of the pictures we've managed to capture to date The route as it was travelling through Dalbeattie can be seen below
  20. I recently converted an O Gauge Ixion Hudswell Tank Loco to dcc sound following(loosely) the recent article in Hornby Magazine. The results were excellent as you can see in the following video. I followed the article with a few slight changes in that I used a Zimo LS10X15S speaker for the second speaker located under the pcb and the speaker located in the designated chamber was a QSI SP075 0.75" from Digitrains. The Decoder used was an MX645R with J94 sound project again from Digitrains. The original article didn't quite make clear how the second speaker was fitted so I've included a picture of this below, also a picture of the some of the pipework which needs to be removed to access the boiler area where the chip is located, this is particularly fragile and so needs to be removed and replaced with great care. Finally a picture of the QSI speaker in position before the lower plate is refitted(this was fitted by filing away some of the plastic in the cavity which enabled an easy fit insulated with a little insulation tape. Picture 1 The Zimo Speaker Picture 2 The Fragile Pipework Picture 3 The QSI Speaker Here is the video test run, some work needs done on the chuff rate but the running and sound levels are superb
  21. We've recently been working on some new sound projects, whilst doing this we decided to do some specific work on the use of Loksound with the NCE Powecab specifically because so many people in the uk use this system and many find problems accessing higher level functions for use with sound. The result is a document designed to show how to access these functions and operate the Powercab with a 28 function Soundscape project. In essence the document does however gives a good insight into the way to set up the Powercab for multifunction use so its published here, hopefully a good reference document
  22. Wickness Models has made a few changes to the website menu structure recently, we found that the majority of people viewing the website were doing so either on desktop or laptop computers so the structure of all items including the online shop has been adjusted to make it easier to find what you are looking for using these mediums. The site is of course still equally friendly towards tablet and mobile users but it has effectively been "tuned up" for laptop and desktop browsing, we re...
