  1. Well I did promise a little progress this weekend. Second 318 driving car body built. Tomorrow my plan is to see if I can get some of the bogies done. All being well I may have the pan car and one driving car on wheels!
  2. ScR layouts are always of interest!!!! I can just see a 1970's West Highland Micro full of fish vans!! Thanks Steve, not a huge amount of progress at the moment, layout is at my mates to have back scenes fitted, once that's sorted and I have it back there will be plenty of progress all being well. As for the Units I have a day of modelling this Saturday so will hopefully crack on with a few bit. Hoping to move the 318 on as I now have the bits for the other driving car and chassis and if tis dry I'll do some more work tidying up the PEP bits in the garden, sanding makes a mess!!
  3. Easybuild kit later in the year all being well!! Steve, with the 08, it is possible to use a Hornby TTS chip for a basic sound chip if you're not too bothered on the sound or lighting functions. One of mine uses one, but then it doesn't get much work!!
  4. Should have said, only available through the SDEG!
  5. Steve, The SDEG books are a great addition to any library, valuable source of info. I have all four books so far. Scotland’s Diesel Fleet in Detail: Class 26s - SDEG Scottish Diesel and Electric Group
  6. 26's are one of my downfalls............ I think I have 6 so far.......... They are a minefield of different details even with the liveries, the RF version as mentioned there are various options of Dog, the Stag and I think a few had the Haymarket Castle. I think I have even found one with the ScR infrastructure logo under the second mans window. The one thing to watch (If you are so inclined) is a number of 26's received class 27 engine room doors for some strange reason. 26035 for example in the pic below you can clearly see the engine room door window is significantly higher than the other bodyside windows, this was only on one side. Also watch out with 26/0's, the first batch have additional cant rail grills amongst other things.
  7. I had a go at bending up some Dapol Turbots which came out OK, I think I did 16 in the end. I've also scored marks in a couple of HEA's but its all very subjective. Not tried to replicate a particularly 'rippled' bodyside effect, but I suspect that would be much more difficult.
  8. Thanks Paul, not just me that organises it! We have a well oiled team!! Good to see you, I was planning to try and have a bit longer chat but then saw you on the bus out! Maybe next time?
  9. They look spot on. Bit too far South for my modelling area though!
  10. Less than a week to go for MIOG 2024 at Crewe Heritage Centre. Traders and Layouts updated above. The team are looking forward to putting on another fantastic show.
  11. I've just tidied up the 3D prints I was handed and put tow ends together. A little more work and hopefully it can be cast in one piece.
  12. That was potentially my other options, as I have modified the body to suit 008! I may just stick to 008 or go completely different!
  13. Those that popped past the MIOG stand at Kettering would have see the work I have been doing with some 3D printed parts for the BR PEP family of EMU's (313/314/315/507/508). This is the progress with the first two bodies. My long term goal is to be able to build a 314.
  14. Afraid I don't really know of a kit building service, it may be worth dropping Peter a line, he may be able to point you in the right direction. I have always thought they were out of my price range so tend to have a go myself!!
  15. White spirit and cotton buds, though others have suggested T-cut works quite well but I have not tried it. I even used some very fine wet & dry with white spirit on the Dogfish as I wasn't too concerned about cutting through the paint! I was planning on doing 008, I have a body and all the transfers to do it but now Heljan have picked it I may look at an alternative.
  16. I used to mark OO layouts out on the living room floor with masking tape! Never actually managed to build one though!! Some really nice progress here. putting me to shame! I am going to have to pull my finger out and crack on with a few bits.
  17. Not quite sure where form but I have finally found a tiny bit of motivation, so amongst a few other odds and sods I have dug my Peter Clark 156 out of its box and actually made some progress. One body is now just about done, I have just glued the cab on so that is now setting. and both underframes are well on the way. Hopefully grab a few missing bits off Pete at Kettering next week and might even get this ready for paint this Spring.
  18. Will you stop posting all these prototype pictures................
  19. Scabbing on that first Heljan Dogfish is spot on.
  20. I like Shawplan's, but since using Vin at ProtoNeo its orderable on his website and and there is a good range of diesel plates. They come pre cut so no burr's to file off and some even come with double sided tape already fitted so it is just a case of fitting them. He also does some useful detailing bits. https://www.protoneo.com/
  21. Hillport Goods is coming to MIOG 2024 at Crewe Heritage Centre at the end of March. I am sure we could find you something to practice on!!!!! MIOG 2024
  22. James, as ever fantastic weathering. 37059 is an inspirational piece of work. I am really struggling to find any motivation at the moment and that might actually just kick me into working on something. I really would love to see your take on something of a 7mm persuasion.
  23. Vast improvement Nick, I shall go and investigate what else they supply!
