  2. Spalding Model Railway Exhibition

    This year's Spalding Model Railway Exhibition is fast approaching. We welcome 34 layouts, 5 demonstrators & 26 traders over the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd 2019.

     

    New for this year we are selling advanced tickets which will permit early entry from 9:30am & entry via a separate entrance to avoid the queues, until midday both days. Tickets are available here. There is no booking fee, simply print your ticket and bring it along for admission.

  3. A few teething problems with admission and the card machine first thing, but all sorted by lunch time - with plans in place to improve admission times tomorrow.

     

    Vale of Oxbury took the Springfield Cup as chosen by a representative of the local council.

     

    Aisthorpe took the John Brown Memorial Trophy.

     

    A great first day, thanks to everyone who visited!

    Just under a month now until the annual Spalding Model Railway Exhibition that is to be held on November 11th and 12th 2017 at Springfields Events Centre, Camelgate, Spalding.

     

    Admission is priced at £8 for Adults, £7 for Concessions and accompanied children are free. We have 34 exhibits, 4 demonstrators and 28 traders.

  7. Hi Thomas,

     

    You make an interesting point about the "whole layout" idea. 

     

    One of the reasons I wanted this model produced (apart from the fact that I want a couple for our club layout, and inevitable future WCML layouts) is that it "completes" a location: you can feasibly plan to model a large stretch of one of our most important railways as the two most important passenger trains - express and suburban - are now available. 

     

    It *would* be nice if a 321 came along too, but if you stand by the WCML at, say, Catiron for long periods all you will see - apart from lots of freight - are Pendolinos, Voyagers, Super Voyagers and Desiros.  All of which (bar the Pendolino, at the moment) are available RTR.  So there is a strategic reason for a Pendo too!

    I have to agree with all that Ben, I have something in my mind based on somewhere near Birmingham with a mixture of cross country, virgin and London Midland, alongside freight and a few steam specials. Some inspiration can definitely be taken from your area groups wonderful Horseley Fields.
