  1. I wouldn't of noticed had I not seen this thread to see the response to the release so unless someone   is looking at their new purchase with detail I'm sure there will be many who will not notice or be aware. I'm keeping the one that I've got. Although disappointed to learn that it is shorter than it should be, I still think it is a nice model, it looks good in amongst the rest of my civil engineers stock. I was never going to buy more than one due to my layout size. Many of our models are produced with inaccuracies. I think it will be a case of those who do not notice, those who do but still see past it and happy that it represents the wagon and those who like their accuracy and what they are willing or not willing to accept.

Maybe one day we will find out what happened but I've never heard of a company saying we got it wrong, send them all back and I wouldn't be holding out for a partial refund or we are going to re-tool and we'll send you a new one due to the costs involved. If you like it then keep it. If not, then send it back but I wouldn't hold out for a statement.

  2. There has always been something about engineers' wagons that I've liked with all the different varieties and uses and especially those painted in the departmental yellow and grey livery that I mostly remember, so this was a must on my Christmas list. Currently making my way through it and a very enjoyable read (especially when my Flangeway Salmon arrived whilst reading it) and a good source of reference for the future.

  3. Now hopefully my memory serves me right but I'm sure one of the books I have showed a photograph of the TTAs on the back of a passenger train possibly on a return working and between Oban and Crianlarich. It was one of the last mixed passenger and freight services and they may have been dropped off at Crianlarich for pick up by the freight from Fort William. Unfortunately the book is packed away in the attic to confirm all the details.

  4. Saw the advert at the Model Rail Scotland a few weeks ago and Inverness one now ordered to go with the original release of which I have 2 of. Might end up selling one of the original releases as I only need  one pair. They do look good with two Inverness class 37s between them.

  5. You may want to check

37427 used to be a welsh 37/4 Bont Y Bermo until 1993 when it became Highland enterprise on May 17th 1993, fresh with a specially painted rake of Regional Railways Mk2as, seen here 1 week into service:

The original livery scotrail coaches depicted were ousted from Scotland due to the arrival of Sprinters in 1990.

Looking through my platform 5’s the FK depicted 13424 was never listed in service after 1988 But i have written it into the margins in 1988, so it was obviously about and missed the book in 1988, but must have been withdrawn around this time.

The Bachmann mk2 TSO looks like EC’s 5152 or 5153 (pictures hard to make out) 5152 was withdrawn in 1990, 5153 by 1993 looking through my 1993 Plat 5, it would seem to be the very last original Scotrail liveried coach in service.

The BGs were shortlived and went to Intercity livery by 1987.

Scotrail (As original) seemed to have been eliminated in 1993 (no stock in this colour), the Mk3 CO’s went back to FO’s as far back as 1989.

However if you mean 37417 Highland Region, in Mainline livery or large logo however....it was stranded north of Inverness following the bridge collpase at Loch Ness in Large Logo Blue in 1989, but was swapped by road for exam and repainted into Mainline livery in 1990, when 156’s were roaded up to Muir of Ord to keep sprinterisation on time.

    Thanks

It is probably the closest I will get although I do have a couple of Highland 37/4s in large logo including Highland Region so thanks as they would  look good behind that. I'm not particularly a prototypical modeller. I would prefer the provincial liveried ones but I think Hornby were the last to produce them plus I'm sure I also have a 47/4 that matches these coaches.

That is a great link you sent. Fantastic photos.

  6. Hopefully when the hattons ltd edition with obs car comes out I should be able tomake a ease of 6. But that does depend on how long it will tale for them to turn up.

Had an email from Hattons today to say that my order for the Bachmann Highlander coach pack has now been posted.

  7. Indeed, and it is worth noting that if you are modelling ScotRail the two 170 releases and recent 158 from Farish are all modelled with "Operated by First" logos and there was no "transition period" where both First and Abellio logo'd stock ran together, having spent a couple of months making sure all signs of First logos were removed, there was a massive overnight push to get every single unit decorated with Abellio logos on the 31st March/1st April.

Good point about the 170s and 158. Tempted to build a small layout using all 3. Great to see someone willing to produce the 156 in Scotrail livery as it is the workhorse of many of the unelectrified lines around Glasgow

  8. The model looks good. Are you still intending to release as 'First'. The contract changed earlier this year to Abellio. Livery is the same as Transport Scotland had decided to have one livery to save money when the franchise changed hands. Only the operator decals on the doors had to be changed (almost sure it was only the doors that had the 'First' markings).
