Why are all the pictures missing on the early pages of this thread?

I'm Building Chathill in OO. The goods shed is a puzzle. Yes I've got the footprint (OS Maps plus the full track layout of the station held at Northumberland County Record Office) but finding any decent photos of the building is a real challenge. Ive never found anything that shows the east or south elevation. A plan would be really useful!

How about a NER J21 or J26/27, these would go nicely alongside the Q6 and the planned G5 from TMC, all in use from WW1 to the end of steam, so loads of livery possibilities.....and how about some NER 20T wooden coal hoppers, these were in use for a similar period, and used in their 100s by the NCB into the 1990s.
But it’s Hornby, and these aren’t used on the Southern, so zero chance!

Good to know, I’m about to standardise on Zimo for everything

Yes, I use JMRI already, but I’m looking for simpler ways to automate, that don’t necessarily depend on full block detection
-
Who uses assymetric DCC to automate bits of their layout? I’m looking to automate a fiddle yard and do it without expensive software, strikes me that some simple logic and some relays on my mega points system will do he job.
Anyone experienced in making assymetric DCC work?
Will All ZIMO decoders support assymetric?
-
Is one key difference that the ZIMO MX600 supports asymmetric DCC and the Lenz standard+ doesn’t?
-
Am I right in thinking the ZIMO 600 supports asymmetric DCC while the LENZ standard doesn’t?

....although in view of what Paul says I'm tempted to give Nos. 309 and 349 a try...

For best results, set CV4 at 100 or above. This will allow long coasting duration(heavy train).
CV309 = X where X is a free F key (in preference set at 'momentary' operation for optimal brake application/release operation).
CV349 = 6.
To operate, when train is moving, reduce throttle (partly or to zero) the presss the F key assigned in CV309. As long as the key is engaged, the brake effect will progressively intensify. Releasing the Brake Key, even after a short 'dab' will reset the brake force at the start figure ready for the next application. As a real driver would do, you can now control the rate of deceleration by applying, releasing and re-applying the brake key. Or leave the brake key engaged for a 'controlled emergency stop'.
Good luck; once you have experienced the control a Brake Function key will give you, you'll wonder why all decoders don't have this feature. LOL.
Best regards,
Paul

Although I am a dedicated Digital user ( since 1997) I personnaly feel that Analogue will be with us for ages, infact I am currently involved in a project, in its early stages which has not yet had a decision made as to its power source and currently the feeling is it may well be Analogue, due to the planned simplicity of the layout, The baseboard materials were purchased today and it is likely that a Vesta Zero Two controller from Morley Controllers will be ordered next week.
The said controller may give a clue to the scale of the layout!
I was a user of H&M Duettes & Clippers in my early Modelling days, but personally would not even plug one in these days, I feel they are simply too old now, better to be safe than sorry!
I'm a firm convert to DCC, but I still use my H&M Duette to test every loco before it gets chipped, the Duette is about 45 years old and still works as well as it did the day it arrived under the Christmas tree.

Even assuming the results are slightly biased towards DCC (online forum, more comfortable with technology etc...), could you be comfortable in saying that more in the hobby use DCC than don't?
I would be interested to see a breakdown of how much from each scale/gauge and era use DCC/DC
There is a survey currently running that will be able to supply the data by Era, scale/gauge, and age of the modeller. My understanding is it has already received more responses than this one, and takes a much broader cross section of the hobby than the pedantic types that inhabit RMweb http://surveyguerilla.co.uk/2017-model-railway-survey

Ah King Kenny.I can still see him chipping the keeper at Wembley to win the European cup.A great player and a great side.
Ah King Kenny, I still remember him dismantling King Kevin's great side at Newcastle and signing up his dads army. Shame he was simply clueless as a manager.
PS Can I have my stereo & hubcaps back please?
