Just to add what has already been said multiple times. As a frequent visitor over the last fifteen years to Warley and the NEC , I’ve appreciated the strengths and weaknesses of both but have enormously enjoyed the weekend and appreciated the hard work by multiple members of the Warley club, to make the show the success it was for so long.

I’d like to think (but have no information of course) that some collective great minds are being focused on a replacement for an Autumn showcase for this great hobby. Too late for this year but perhaps something in 2025 ?

I also wondered if the organisational model of Model Rail Scotland with its Association of Model Railway societies in Scotland (AMRSS) could be used as a template, for something south of the border, with joint management of the show arranged through several model clubs, not just one ?

Just a though, we live in hope. But thanks for the memories

Well the CMRA used to do something like that...... but......

  2. They promised new products which they could never deliver (how do like our new controllers ? great - when can we get them ? errr soon) - only excuses. They seemed to spend a fortune on promotions eg free tickets to Scaleforum and buffet lunches. Meanwhile other companies were producing radio control products. And they didn't seem to know what their potential market should be  eg 4mm finescale or just 00 or outdoors or the larger scales.

  3. Yes - all the time!

Bit tricky though.  I use a long, fine, screwdriver (flathead, i think) inserted through the hole in the underframe near the ends of the coaches. Now you hold the coach so you can see where the screwdriver is going (may have to tilt/angle it and get the light at the correct angle) so you can look through one of windows  (door window?) and see the screw holding the roof on. Insert the 'driver so it engages with the screw and press hard and turn. Hopefully the screw will loosen!

Once the roof is off it can be re-attached the same way in reverse - but don't tighten the screw too much!

    The first is the hardest!

    good luck!

  4. I have quite and extensive modern Lionel/MTH system and I use a 200v-100v step-down transformer - similar to the one(s) available through Amazon - as recommended above.

Works well and I don't have problems with the 50/60 cycle issue - I have a variety of controllers from Lionel/MTH/Atlas.

    good luck!
