really nice show and good to see so many families there. Possibly being a town-centre location helps that?

Must say I don't it being smaller than Warley (or more diverse) as I found Warley just too big to get around and see things properly. i am looking forward to it!

Just to add what has already been said multiple times. As a frequent visitor over the last fifteen years to Warley and the NEC , I’ve appreciated the strengths and weaknesses of both but have enormously enjoyed the weekend and appreciated the hard work by multiple members of the Warley club, to make the show the success it was for so long.
I’d like to think (but have no information of course) that some collective great minds are being focused on a replacement for an Autumn showcase for this great hobby. Too late for this year but perhaps something in 2025 ?
I also wondered if the organisational model of Model Rail Scotland with its Association of Model Railway societies in Scotland (AMRSS) could be used as a template, for something south of the border, with joint management of the show arranged through several model clubs, not just one ?
Just a though, we live in hope. But thanks for the memories
Mike
Well the CMRA used to do something like that...... but......

This is what I have done but I found foamboard sags a bit and needs some extra support

It was a lot more when I looked...

Booked my coach ticket from London to Birmingham (coach station) and then either bus or (gulp) taxi to the NEC and reverse in the evening. Very limited coach service to the NEC/Bitmingham airport. far from ideal and takes much longer and costs more.....
Hope, hope, hope the strike will be called off.

There is a bar selling (mainly) alcohol - and teas/coffees. Limited selection of sandwiches but, as others have said, there are several food outlets in the adjacent shopping complex. limited seating.

They promised new products which they could never deliver (how do like our new controllers ? great - when can we get them ? errr soon) - only excuses. They seemed to spend a fortune on promotions eg free tickets to Scaleforum and buffet lunches. Meanwhile other companies were producing radio control products. And they didn't seem to know what their potential market should be eg 4mm finescale or just 00 or outdoors or the larger scales.

I am surprised they lasted this long.
Great product - useless company. Totally missed the boat.
Shame really.

Yes - all the time!
Bit tricky though. I use a long, fine, screwdriver (flathead, i think) inserted through the hole in the underframe near the ends of the coaches. Now you hold the coach so you can see where the screwdriver is going (may have to tilt/angle it and get the light at the correct angle) so you can look through one of windows (door window?) and see the screw holding the roof on. Insert the 'driver so it engages with the screw and press hard and turn. Hopefully the screw will loosen!
Once the roof is off it can be re-attached the same way in reverse - but don't tighten the screw too much!
The first is the hardest!
good luck!

It was good to be back. The event seemd a little smaller than usual but, as its the first in 3 years, that was OK. I went on Sunday - quieter than I was expecting but in past years I had gone on the Saturday so can't compare.

excellent - thank you!

My daughter is a transplant recipient and she is very concerned about this. Our advice is clear - don't go!

I have quite and extensive modern Lionel/MTH system and I use a 200v-100v step-down transformer - similar to the one(s) available through Amazon - as recommended above.
Works well and I don't have problems with the 50/60 cycle issue - I have a variety of controllers from Lionel/MTH/Atlas.
good luck!
