  1. More projects and designs in various scales were added to the layout database in the last year. See here 3 of them: The U-shaped HO Scale Layout of Philip Large and complex U-shaped HO scale layout with main station on the upper level, connected via double main line and two helices to a large shadow station on the lower level. Lionel 5x10 O-gauge Fastrack Layout Nice O-gauge layout with Lionel Fastracks, featuring two independent lines on two levels. The track plan allows simultaneous running of two trains and has many playing and shunting/switching options. The N-Scale Dining Table Layout of Sean Very interesting project for a N-scale layout built into a dinning table and covered with glass. The track plan features two oval lines on two levels, connected with diagonal line which crosses a small town. I hope that you will like these projects ;) Mixy
  2. Here are some more projects and designs in various scales, added to the layout database: The Corner HO-scale Layout of Michael Medium-sized HO-scale corner layout design with single main line passing around a small town with car cinema near the sea coast. LEGO Train Layout in the Kids Room Small oval LEGO layout for playing with LEGO trains and testing of the new 10277 Crocodile locomotive set. For all of you who have small kids or grandchildren, the LEGO trains IMHO are the best way to enter in the hobby Depoe Bay & Sitka Lumber RR Layout in N-scale Nice and very detailed N-scale layout project, featuring sea coast and mountain theme set somewhere in the U.S. Pacific Northwest with fishing and lumber industries. PIKO G-scale Oval Track Plan Oval G-scale layout with double main line, small station in front and cargo area in the back. Hope you will like these and hope also they will help you to draw inspiration for more Mixy
  3. Many new projects were added to the database since my last update here, so lets see some of them That Famous 4x8 (And a Bit More) in HO Scale Compact HO scale layout design featuring single line which passes via small station with sidings and small town with factory and dairy plant. Small Track Plan with Folded Line in TT Scale For the fans of TT scale (they are small in number, but very devoted ;)) - compact track plan featuring fictional scene with single folded line and a small station. The layout allows longer running time for both passenger and freight trains as well as some shunting/switching operations in the station. JNR Kansai Division - Japanese N-scale Layout Compact N scale layout under construction, featuring double oval main line and a branch with freight siding, terminus passenger station and turntable with roundhouse in the center area. The Attic Layout of Jonathon in OO Scale And finally, one nice around-the-walls attic layout project in OO gauge, featuring double two-way main line with several industrial branches and yards. The track plan is suitable for continuous running of up to two trains on the main line as well as for many shunting/switching operations in the branches. Hope you will enjoy all these Mixy
  4. See here 3 more layouts, added to the SCARM database in the autumn. Østbanegården/Østerport Station in HO Scale This layout represents Østerport station in Denmark from Ep. III / Transition era, before the depot burned down in the late 60’s. It is created by Frankie Christians, who is a Danish engine driver and has been driving trains in and out that station since 1986 New Middletown & Stony Point Model Railroad in N scale This is U-shaped display layout with double main line and modular design for easy disassembling and transportation. It is created and built by Dwight Sturtevant. Northumberton Railway Layout in OO Scale And this is L-shaped layout design in OO scale (same gauge as HO), featuring small train station on a main line with many tunnels and bridges. The layout is created by Clive Poole and is already under construction. You can see Clive's progress here in the forum, where he posts pictures and comments the building process. Hope you will like these and will draw inspiration for your own layouts and track plans Mixy

  9. Thanks to all for sharing your opinions and thoughts about SCARM. I will consider all these and will make the necessary changes and improvements in the upcoming versions of the program. Mixy
  10. See 3 more projects, added recently to the Train layouts & Track plans database: The “Think Big” Layout Design of Jan in HO (1/87) The O-gauge Layout of Joe Marklin HO C-track plan 260x180cm Hope these to be interesting and useful for your inspiration Mixy
  11. Note that this approach will mess-up with the calculation of max number of flex tracks that are needed for the layout. This number is shown in the Parts list and relies on the correct length of the flex tracks set in the libraries. Mixy
  12. I still don't understand where is the issue... I don't know what type of track do you use, but it seems that R900 @ 90deg is too long for a single flex track of that type. What you can do is to use two R900 sections at 45deg for 90deg turn or 4 x R900 sections at 45deg for full 180deg turn. And the end of the turn will be just above (below) the start. Or, if you want to use full-length flexes and only to get the last small piece to finish the turn as per your example, click over the last start point (actually, it is already selected in your picture) and observe the angle in the status bar. Then add it to 180deg (or to -180deg, depends on the turn direction) and place a flex-track with the same radius using the Toolbox and you will have again a perfect 180deg curve from flexes. Mixy
  13. Thank you guys, for your comments and feedback @Junctionmad: You can use the "Flex-track modelling" function in the Toolbox and make perfect flex sections with any radius and angle. Below is example of 3 transition curves created with flex tracks in that way: I will consider if and how the printing templates can be saved, because any change in the boundaries of the track plan may result in a different size and location of the pages grid and that will conflict with the already saved templates. While there is no way the metric and imperial units to be displayed in the same time, you can toggle between them very fast by use of “U” key. And precise defining of the figures will come in some of the next versions of SCARM. * * * * * @jamespetts: Here are my comments on your topics: 1) All movements of tracks and objects on the drawing plot are in 1mm increments. If you want to control the movements precisely, you need to zoom-in the plan at the point where you want to obtain the join. If you want to join a flex-track to other track, you can always use the auto join feature: 2) Many keys are already assigned for a hot-key commands. I will consider adding of more, as you suggest, however, I am not sure how to deal when there are more than 10 layers (SCARM allows unlimited number of layers in the registered version). 3) If you get "No selected start point" message when you accidentally hit Spacebar, just hit it again to hide the dialog box. You can do the same with Esc or Enter, because using of the mouse to hit [X] or [OK] is much slower. 4) Adding selection steps to the Undo buffer will make it less usable. Your example is not good - if you move a selection to a wrong place, you can just move it to the correct place with the next move, and there is no need for using undo here (except if moving results in join and relocation with disordered parallel tracks). And if Blender uses this approach, many other CAD programs does not do that (i.e. CorelDraw). There are many ways to get the required selection in SCARM with single (or several steps) and most of these are explained in the following articles: Selection of Tracks And Objects and Fast Selection of Sequential Tracks in SCARM. However, I will consider your idea once more and may add an option for including of the selection steps in the undo buffer, so you and other users that finds this useful to be able to enable this behavior in the Settings. 5) There are 2 cases here: A) The currently selected single track is always displayed in the status bar. B) For the last used track that can be repeated with pressing of Spacebar, I may add a description in the menu item. Marking this track in the selection panel will not work, as it may be currently located outside of the visible area or the library may be already changed. 6) You can always select already colored track and open the tracks selection panel – if you used standard color from the panel, it will be marked there and you will see it immediately. This is the way to see what color to use again. And you can save up to 16 custom colors in the Color selection dialog, when Colors panel is open and you press “More colors…” button on the bottom. 7) You can always rotate any track or object at 45deg by use of “Edit” > “Rotate” menu command and then directly click over the label “45” or “-45” for clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation. Or you can use the “Star point” function in the Toolbox for placing a new start point at 45deg or any other angle. If you want to draw strictly horizontal, vertical or diagonal (at 45deg) lines when you add new Polygon figure, hold down Ctrl key while drawing each next line. And for the Marcway turnouts – I was trying to contact him 2-3 times by e-mail and to ask for dimensional and geometry data, but there is no reply from him till now. Actually, I found the only e-mail address on the website in the "Terms and conditions section" - perhaps it is not used or no longer valid. Mixy
  14. Hi all @Lacathedrale: if you mean antialiasing in 2D, that may come in some of the next versions if I change the default GDI drawing routines with something better. In 3D, the antialiasing is enabled by default, but depends also on the driver's settings. @NightTrain: this is one of the minor bugs that needs to be fixed, and I hope to do that soon Mixy
  15. Here are the first 3 projects of 2018 in the SCARM layouts & plans database: Iskar Gorge themed HO Scale Train Layout Small N-scale Diorama Compact Z-scale Layout in a Storage Trunk Hope you will like them Mixy
  16. Yes, there is a high chance for an Alco model to appear in the sim, however I cannot promise that exactly this will be added. Merry Christmas Mixy
  17. The winter is coming, so here I am showing the last 3 layouts that were added in the SCARM database during the autumn: Big Basement Layout in N scale Model Railroad Design for a Corner Layout in HO The Christmas Layout of Ted in O gauge Happy holidays Mixy
  18. Hi John, This may be due to a temporary configuration or printer driver problem. You can try the following: 1. Turn off and then on your printer. If it is a network printer attached to another PC, restart that PC and check the network settings too. Then try printing again. 2. If still got the same error, restart the PC with SCARM as sometimes the Print Spooler service or the driver may fail. Then try printing again. 3. If still no luck, try to reset the printer settings to the defaults because sometimes there may be incompatible settings set that prevent the printing (i.e. wrong orientation for a given paper tray, etc). 4. If nothing above helps, try to update or reinstall the printer driver. As a last solution that may help, try to set SCARM to run in Compatibility mode - right-click on its icon and select "Troubleshoot compatibility". Then restart it and try again. Let me know if that helped or not. Mixy
