  1. No reply to my questions on getting this magazine delivered to the UK, however all is not lost..... I will be travelling to Spain very soon (near Ribadesella, Asturias). Does anyone know if this magazine is easily available in the shops there? Will it be likely to be available in smaller towns, or would I need to be in a larger town or city to find it? We will be staying very close to the narrow gauge line which runs along the north coast, so hopefully I will be able to get some good photos of the trains and stations on that line - and probably come back having added to my ever increasing list of layout ideas.
  2. No political commentary here - but whilst the UK is still officially in Europe! Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can obtain this magazine in the UK? For new issues I know they can be supplied direct from the publisher. However the minimum postage charge for this service is a ridiculous amount. Does anyone know of another source where the charges would be relative to the fact that it would be just one magazine. For back issues - very rare there is anything on UK ebay. Spanish ebay often does have copies for sale, however I have only once been able to get a copy by this route as in almost all cases the sellers will not post outside Spain. Again, any suggestions?
  3. Thanks for all the input on my original question. Having already rejected converting the Dapol pannier tank (which I also own) as per the article in the current magazine I think I will also leave the 04 for now. On the other Farish diesels - is there a list of which ones will take the drop in wheelsets, or is it all the modern ones excluding those with connecting rods? I would hate to find that I have ended up buying the only one that could not be converted!
  4. Just a request for a bit of guidance on my first loco conversion to fine scale. I have a Bachmann class 04 which I would like to convert. I know that this loco can not use the drop in replacement wheelsets, but I see from another recent post that the wheels can be turned to the correct profile by Gordon Solloway. I am just asking, from those who have gone this route, how involved this process will be. When the wheels are returned will they drop straight back into the chassis? Will they need packing to cater for the wider gauge? Will I need to buy a back to back gauge? Will the coupling rods need changing? Basically anything else which will need doing over and above just dropping the wheels straight back in. Quite a few questions there I know, but just trying to work out if this should be my first loco, or would I be better buying another type which will take the drop in replacement wheelsets.
  5. Just a follow up question to this if I may. I have just joined the association - rejoined really after about 30 years away! - so can now buy from the association shops. Have not yet made an order, but was just wondering if the wagon kit(s) referred to here were ones selected as being the simpler ones to construct? If so then that may influence what I order as a first kit so as to ease myself back into finescale after the time away working in N, OO and OO9.
