Thanks to the pointed out lack of sheep......Bri.

Also what's my mum got to do with it Paul?

Although she lives in Tonyrefail these days, so not that far from that shot but a bit above it may be?

Blangarw?

Sorry - Blaengarw

Congratulations 'leekman'

As close as we're likely to get.

NCB Garw Colliery, Blaegarw (merged / joined with Ffaldau Colliery 1975, closed 1985)

In the mid 1970s the 18" saddle tank was taken down to Margam TMD for attention, the first photo appears to have been taken about that time.

Newport to Brecon.

Have fun identifying the various line side industries along the route.

If you wait long enough there is another clip at the end Abergavenny to Merthyr is also featured.

(Many thanks to Geoff Forster who brought this to my attention)

Yes, great fun and at the same time rather sad looking at all the various processing plants that have gone - even compared with my time down there in the 1970s when the last remnant of the B&M still in BR use was on my patch.

My grandfather was colliery winder just up the road at the Parc and Dare pit and in his spare time a poet whose works reside in the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth. My mother was born in Glyncoli Road. When she left to train as a nurse in Lewisham,Dadda saw her off from this platform. He did not live long after that. His bardic name is Dewi Glan Rhondda.

Treorchy.

Sorry for being late to the party  but the RMWeb search engine points to this thread having a picture of Porth, Rhondda in it.

I have looked through all the pages and can't find it.

Could someone point me to it please?

The trouble with forums is that photos can and do get removed by posters/copyright holders/moderators, so if it's gone ...

Methinks one particular contributor has 'picked up his ball and gone home'
