60 feet Gallows turntable and Como roundhouse for HOn3

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I put this build in the Narrow gauge section, but the response there is a bit less than ordinary....

I have been building an engine terminal for my freelanced Colorado railroad in HOn3.

The roundhouse is based on the Como roundhouse model from Model masterpieces.

I have departed from the original as I skipped the boiler house and built full height doors as the roundhouse had as built (but was altered to lower doors later on).

I model the late 30's, so it is a bit modelers license involved....

:-)

The cast plaster walls were painted stone by stone (almost...):

The turntable is also a Model masterpieces kit with the pit and drive home made.

Getting it all assembled was a real chore.

Pre assembled the rafters which later will be glued to the removable roof:

Most of the ground cover in place.

I have mounted the hinges on half of the doors.

It's great fun to get them to work properly.

Here I've painted the doors on the roundhouse:

Something is hiding within:

Ahh, it's the old C19...

I like what you have done but surely that spark arrester stack loco doesn't fit?

Oh, yes it does.

But not front first, only tender first.

The Como roundhouse originally had the smokestacks on the front just for that very reason.

With the rebuilt locos with shorter stacks, they could go nose first, so they moved the stacks to the rear.
