Simond
I’m guessing they did an air smoothed light pacific too. The frames were clearly blown up from 16.5gauge, and whoever built it (I just fixed it) never thought to make them wider. It had about thirty washers on each axle…
jazz
I guess that's why the etches are as bad as they are for 7mm scale. Never a good idea in opinion. The casting from Laurie are excellent though.
jazz
Excellent news the forum is back thanks to all their hard work. Onwards with the WB and posting photos etc.
jazz
Hi. Just a test to see if the photos will load now. A wagon just completed. Well I guess that worked.
jazz
This one that had been started and I was asked to complete it. A Connoisseur J69 Buckjumper. Very tarnished, so I gave it a clean in the sonic cleaner. That made it ready for soldering without polishing it up first. So now it will have a good scrub in Barmans Friend ready for priming.
jazz
The J69 is now all finished. Most of the chassis was already done and the basic body shell almost completed prior to me receiving it. 7

I do like these Ken, and your example looks full of buisnesslike bustle in it's grey primer.
jazz
I've been building this Gladiator precursor tank loco. It is now ready for the paint shop tomorrow. It did require a little modification to the rear end of the chassis to allow the trailing wheels more side play to get round the curves. I have fitted a large motor over the leading drivers facing forwards into the boiler. This has allow me to fit a big heavy weight in the firebox area. I'm pleased with the way it's turned out. jazz
That's the precursor boxed off. Quite a large motor/gearbox installed. 12
jazz
Another old kit, this one is a Alan Gibson 4F with heavy tarnish. Starting with Johnson tender, missing is the tender top, top supports, footplate side pockets, tool boxes and handbrake. So raiding the spares box and scratch building plus the sonic cleaner all came into play. It's ended up like this. 18
N15class
I do like these Johnson tenders.
jazz
Moving onwards with the 4F. I had to lengthen and modify the ejector casting, quite fiddly to do that. 15
jazz
After a short delay getting some missing castings I've finished the 4F at last. The kit has shown it's age in design failing though. Anyway here it is. 15
jazz
I started this Gladiator Jubilee tender prior to going on a break to Torbay. Returned Friday evening and just completed it. No problems with this kit, typical of Gladiator kits. I make the cross braces detachable buy springing them in place using narrow strips of etch to hold them in place. Cross braces sprung in place 12
N15class
Fair old jaunt from Llandudno to Torbay, hope you had a good time.
jazz
Had a fantastic time thanks. Did the round robin steam train (behind a 52xx GWR tank from Paignton) and the Dartmouth river cruise. The Golden Hind in Brixham. The Barbican historic area at Plymouth. Enjoyed the 'big wheel' in Torquay. Beautiful Totnes plus a really nice tour around the stunning country side. Also manage to get a very sore sunburnt head. Won't get caught like that again. All done with Jones coach holiday staying in a great hotel in Paignton. Plus we booked the front seats too. A perfect holiday with no worries. Looking forward to the next five holidays booked with them all front seats too. Happy days 🤗 Edited May 9, 2022 by jazz
jazz
The Jubilee chassis is now underway. All square and perfectly aligned with the coupling rods. So easy when using Poppy's builder block. (Best thing I have purchased to aid chassis building)
jazz
Carrying on now with the chassis. Pleased it pushed along nicely with no binding with out having to ream out the coupling rod holes. The centre axle is sprung in my usual way. This is it so far.

jazz
Another session on the Jubilee chassis. This is as far as I can go prior to painting. no issues in the construction so far.
jazz
A bit more done today, after some work in the garden. (Not my favourite pastime I have to say.) Still going quite well, a lot of rivet punching before I could start assembly. 11
jazz
A little more done on the body. A fair bit if adjustments required to get it all squared off on the smokebox/boiler/firebox unit. Other than, that everything else went to plan. Edited May 20, 2022 by jazz
jazz
Managed a little bit more on the body. Just the cab to sort out, hopefully I can start that tomorrow. 10
jazz
OK. Jubilee is ready for stripping down, cleaning and priming. That's for tomorow now. Edited May 26, 2022 by jazz 13
