nse47
Hello everyone, here is a brief update of whats been happening in Sunbury (apologies for poor pic quality, they were taken with cameraphone) The level crossing leading up to the Station is now complete: The entrance road to the camp site along with the hedge and end section of platform 6 is now complete: Twin Berko signals have been installed at the London end of each platform: I've also managed to paint most of the road surface for half the layout, complete some paving, Platforms 2 and 3 and now completely ballasted, 4 and 5 90% complete and 6 about 25%. I will try and get some better pictures uploaded soon.
pauln
It is really coming together and you've taken some nice close up shots. What's your method for the road surface and markings please? I have tried paint and scalescenes sheets and I don't really like the effect of either - yours look good though.
nse47
thanks, the method I have used is simply painting it and I purchased a stick on sheet with the ready made crossing on as well as some other road markings, I can't remember the make now but I'll find out and let you know. I've used black paint for the road which should in reality be too dark but it seems to work okay.

nse47
whilst doing a bit of train spotting in Sunbury an unusual working went by, North East based 37501 hauling local 37201, one can only presume it has just been involved in delivering some Steel to the south east and is off for a rest before returning with scrap. nse47
I've only just realised it's nearly been a year since I've updated this................where did that time go! Just a quick update, the depot has been moved to the other end of the layout so it comes from the station and a couple of sidings will replace where the depot was, a new road overbridge has been installed so that the road can go out two ways rather than the only access being from the level crossing. Here is an overview of the layout as it is (apologies for the poor quality): Will post some more better detailed photos shortly.

kintbury jon
Just thinking back to my childhood. Not being far away from Sunbury (living in Twickenham at the time) every now and then i'd used to go to Sunbury Models on the A308. Not the best of model shops but my dad and I used to pick up some secondhand stuff from there. Long since closed though perhaps you could reopen it on your layout? I'll certainly keep that in mind Jon, I need a few more shops and thinking of building some from the scalescenes ones so you never know

nse47
Hi everyone Crikey just realised I've not posted an update in here for 4 and a half years! In truth not much has been updated. Reason being October 2004 was when I finally flew from my parents nest and moved in to a rented flat nearer to work. After a year I spent a lot of time traveling between North Herts and Bristol with my job. After being made redundant I then chose to move to Hemel Hempstead to join my girlfriend and find new work there. And now we have moved again down to lovely countryside peace of Wendover. So with a busy 4 years, visits back to the parents and having any time with the layout have been just having a little play rather than getting any work done. But with things finally starting to settle I'm hoping to get time to come back to this a little more often and start posting some updates once again. On the last few attempts the track does seem to be suffering with lack of maintenance so I may have to deploy a replacement bus service whilst we give it a thorough clean and get things running again. Hope to start adding more photos again shortly.
nse47
Just a quick photo to add though with a bit of Class 47 sectorisation heaven going on for any spotters during a maintenance weekend. Just need a triple grey to complete the set!
