I have had a letter and order from Mr Parker only sent last Saturday arrived yesterday so very fast turn around.

No new kits this year, still sorting out the OO gauge range but hopefully new N gauge releases next year. He did hint at 1 but not sure if that is confidential so won't mention it here for now. I'll write to him again this time next year for an update.

Hello Mike,

that is good news and thank you for advising us.  Mr Parker doesn't seem to advertise anywhere and our only updates are by word of mouth, so to speak.

I have ten of his vehicle kits already and have just placed a fresh order for nine others, including his three latest, as a result of your post.

cheers,
Mike

Rod told me this time last year that he was working on a new version of the transit but that is a very pleasant surprise. The Ford V7 tractor is a very useful addition and nice to see more versions of existing cabs. Shame about the the WW1 lorry and early bus. The bus was a nice kit and based on one the GWR used.

Hi Mike Harvey, thanks for the info and price updates .I have just ordered some of his kits as Richard said the new ones are very useful.

Mike,@royal42 were the Fordson 7V articulatated lorries used by the British forces during and after ww2?.

I seem to think that the RAF used them in Gatow during the airlift .(Dad was stationed there in 1952-53). If not they must have been US built.

Regards all Ray.

British forces certainly used Fordson 7V in the early part of the war as loads were left in France and Belgium. My knowledge is a bit sketchy later on and trying to remember what pics I have seen of post D-Day supply runs. Just looking it up a Ford/Fordson pulled Montgomery's map caravan around North West Europe campaign. So post D-Day, suggesting others were in use as well.

Hi Richard ,thanks for the info .I have seen pictures of Montys fleet or general war office  on the move  .He changed the caravans a some point to I think it was Italian built capturedin Libya fro0m the German /Italian forces during the African campain.

I believe that they are now part of the IWM colletion at Duxford.

Regards Ray

The book "British Military Trucks of World War Two" only covers the Fordson 7V very briefly as it was generally seen as adaptations of civilian vehicles rather than military specified. There are photos of an ambulance with pre-war radiator (shades of the Austin K2 body), a couple of wartime radiator short wheelbase tippers as use by the RAF and Royal Engineers, a wartime short dropside variation with a mesh "greedy board" used as an aircraft tug, and Monty's original caravan which was presented to Monty at the end of the war and is now at Duxford, as mentioned above. It looks like the Parker artic tractor could serve as a conversion to the SWB tipper.

Edit: I just checked the wheelbase of the SWB tipper which comes out at 9ft. 10in. The Parker artic tractor is 18mm wheelbase so just a touch short.

The picture I was referring to of Monties NW Europe Map caravan towed by a Fordson 7V is in the book above and claims to be the Duxford one but new for DDay.

A very useful forum such info is ww2talk, a few picture threads and some very knowledgeable people on there.

I had wanted the AEC bus but it was always out of stock. They were run by East Kent into the 1930s which would suit my little street diorama from Dover.

Hi Mike,

I have bought the brass master pattern of the AEC bus from Rod and will be adding it the Beaver Products range some time in the New year along with the N gauge Fleetline Models which I also now own, visit johndaymodels.co.uk and click on the 'what's new' button for updates.
