It might be, but knowing our neighbours in Edinburgh we will probably have to get off it at Pilrig Street and jump on another one.  (Historical Note for non-Leithers:  Edinburgh used to have cable trams while Leith, a forward looking metropolis, had electric trams and the interchange was at Pilrig.

I'd second the Regional Railways "Express" livery, it ran for ten years and has a number of variations (Regional or Central branding, with or without the gangway door) which could give some options for additional limited runs as has been done with the First liveries.

Although I'm not the biggest fan the Central Green livery might also be worth a punt, again various derivatives can be done from the same base colour, Central "Telephone number", Central "Website", Central de-branded as used by EMT and Scotrail when they received ex CT units, Central with "Greater Anglia" white stripe branding and Central with "One" branding.  Having said that, I'm not sure how popular the Central green livery is as the Limby versions do seem to crop up with regularity for not a lot of wedge on thiefBay, suggesting that perhaps they are not hugeley popular, but as a base for other limited runs as de-branded or rebranded units who knows..

[edit] Although I'm more keen on West Midlands related liveries, surely a Northern livery must be a high priority for you as a company to give purchasers of your 143 and 144 units something else to buy?

I'd agree on both counts - never been a fan of Central Trains livery myself either, even at the time.  And I too have noticed that 'current' liveries seem to sell like the proverbial hot cakes, whilst liveries that have recently fallen into the 'just beyond being current' category seem to have all the appeal of last year's latest fashion accessory... ie. ziltch.

Having said that I would have thought that Regional Railways would have been quite popular being a half-decent livery in the first place; and didn't they operate slightly more widely, if I recall correctly certainly remember seeing them in a few more places regionally, although someone else with a little more knowledge may have to clarify...?

Regional Railways?

I see this as a terrible effort at trying to make these handsome units look like the ugly 158s.  If there was one livery I could strike from the record, it would be this one applied to these units.  Just as well we're all different and like different things!

After the East Midlands Trains & Provincial.  ANY suggestions on future liveries????

One of the units that carries / carried SPT Carmine and Cream livery.  At least one would look good alongside the First Scotrail 'Barbie' version that I have on order with you.  Circa 2007 condition would be great!!!

I'd quite like a Northern Spirit (light blue/ green with large 'N') and a Northern Rail one (opportunity for promotional liveries such as NRM, S&C etc - possible collaborations here?).

There were also the earlier versions of the Northern Rail livery (including one with white as the main colour) with squared off 'swooshes' – any of these would be great!

A list of all the liveries is not really helping here. I wonder if it is time for Charlie to set up a poll to judge the relative popularity of liveries? Not suggesting that it is binding or anything like that, just a help.

Roy

A poll would be a great idea Roy. Maybe for the liveries and destinations for each livery, very democratic! Cheers, Jim

In order of preference;

1. Standard Northern Rail blue livery

as in: http://www.blackhatrailwaypictures.co.uk/p377986531/h3d0a8fcc#h3d0a8fcc

2. Northern Rail Bishop Auckland branch line pictured unit. (No chance of this I know...)

as in: http://dysgraphyk.madasafish.com/156/class156_promo-nt.htm

3. Regional Railways Express livery (With Regional Railways branding)

as in: http://dysgraphyk.madasafish.com/156/class156_liv-xp.htm

4. Northern Spirit debranded livery.

as in: http://www.blackhatrailwaypictures.co.uk/p751278342/h6a0258af#h6a0258af

5. Northern Spirit standard livery

as in: http://dysgraphyk.madasafish.com/156/class156_liv-ns.htm

As an aside, option 4 could also be done with Northern white logos on the side of the unit. The Northern Spirit unit would be a good choice, as it could be done in Northern Spirit standard, Arriva Trains branded, unbranded, and Northern Rail branded, as the units were never painted into Arriva Trains North livery.

Provincial & Regional Railways please :) All other liveries are either too modern or a bit out of my modelling area.... and I'd prefer blank destinations so i can add me own. But getting the lighting right is more important to me than the destinations.

looking forward to seeing it in the flesh one day

My thoughts would be that if a version was produced in 'branded' livery then a 'debranded' variant could be achieved very easily by simply removing the unwanted decals/logos?
