Taunton Photographs 2017

Recommended Posts

Just to inform you that I have started editing the pics I took at Taunton and have whittled them down to 51 at the last count. They are now in JPEG format and await further attention in Photoshop. As promised, once finished they will be on a Dropbox link which will be published on this forum and in this thread.

Once that is done and the dust has settled I have a few which could do justice to a caption so will load those up on here and do just that!

Anything for a laugh these days.

As promised, all the useful pics from Taunton are on this link.

For those unfamiliar with Dropbox, if you click on the link you will see thumbnails of all the pics. Select one only. In your web browser and on the pic will be a 'download' link which is usually a button but coulkd be three dots. Click that and the pic will download to wherever you direct it. Some of these pics are approaching 10Mb so be patient. Usually your browser will tell you when it has finished. You can then select another photo and go again. You can only do one at a time I would suggest.

A note of caution. Copyright is not claimed on these pics and any member of RMWeb can access this link and view/download pics. Do not publish the link outside of this forum. This would result in all and sundry being able to view/download/lay claim to any pics without traceability.

I will continue to work on somed of these pics to post in this thread.

Enjoy

Thanks for the pictures - a very nice cross section indeed.

I notice the last two feature myself and Devonseasider enduring the "Temptation of the Gate Set EP".

Only one of us succumbed - I hope the windows come out fairly easily for you, Graham. :jester:

Regards

John

Thanks for taking the time to photograph and post the pics of Helstonish. Especially the 1st couple which were of the scenics, and not a train in site.

Not so sure of the one where you caught the layout monster rising from his slumbers!

Again Thanks

TONY

Thank you for pointing those out.  My God  -  I'm even fatter than I thought I was, not to mention the seasonal hair loss  .  .  .  .

Regarding the gate stock, I haven't yet had the opportunity, or plucked up the courage, to try to remove the glazing ready for painting.  I have, however, assembled the new lawnmower, shifted the long-term remains of an old plum tree from behind the greenhouse, moved some curtains from one bedroom window to another, cut some tiles to fit around the new splashback in the kitchen, prepared the way for a new ceiling light in the living room, replenished the supply of little blue sweeties for cuddly, furry visitors to the loft and downed a substantial amount of Scottish neck oil.  Just remind me, what was it that we were saying to the good Captain about modelling becoming a nocturnal activity?

For the record, here's the pair of coaches looking quite at home behind a Kernow 02 on Tormouth Quay.

For anyone desperate enough, the next scheduled appearances of Tormouth Quay are at Shepton Mallet (Doulting) on 10th/11th June, followed by Plymouth on 24th.

For anyone who might be keeping an eye on this, the glazing units are now free from the coach body.so maskng & spraying can start when convenient.  A couple of tricky moments when I thought I might be going to crack either the glazing or the main body moulding but everything seems to have worked out OK.  There's a tiny bit of damage to the glazing but I don't think it will show at all once it's back on the coach.

Watch this space (or another closely related one)  .  .   .   .

1. You and me both

2. Isn't it somewhat counter-productive to feed Viagra to squirrels?

3. The Ghost Train?

I understand it is also prescribed for seasickness. There must be a joke there somewhere about the sailor's hornpipe.

Only you would think of writing that Ian.

News flash: a lorry loaded with Viagra has been stolen. Police are looking for a gang of hardened criminals.

Yes, I know, I know...

Does it actually cure the seasickness, or just take your mind off it?..............

Were they the ones who fell into a bucket of wet cement?

Avast there, I see a vast mast?

It reminds me of the time of an early morning 'shake' by the instructors whilst in R.M. Training....to stand by your beds. ( the subtle clanging of dustbin lids at 0500hrs or some similar ungodly hour) where someone was threatened to be put on a charge.......

For having the audacity to display an erection in front of the queens uniform.

Somehow the Police just wasn't the same.

Was that the parade where the sergeant went along the rank, and suddenly smashed his fist in a marines face, "did that hurt?" "No, sir" "why not" "I'm a commando, sir" then he belted another one in the stomach, same question and answer, then he saw an erection sticking out, and took a swipe at it with his cane, "did that hurt?", "no sir", "why not?" "Beacause it belongs to the man in rank behind me, sir".

  • 1 month later...

This seems a little out of place a couple of months on and after the viagra comments, but back in post #8 I did say "watch this space".

Briefly, the deed is now done - took advantage of the good weather during the last couple of weeks although at one point I'm sure the paint was drying before it even got out of the venturi tube in the airbrush!  Result could be better but it looks OK from a distance & it's good enough for me.  Beats the hell out of the half-finished Jidenco offering on the work bench  .  .  .  .

I've seen a reference to set 374 being withdrawn in unlined crimson in 1956, so that's how I've portrayed it.  No doubt someone will tell me that's wrong but I don't care - it's my trainset & rule 1 applies.  Still needs weathering but I'll get round to that sometime.

At least I got it done before the "proper" one hits the streets and I'm sure those of you waiting for your orders with the full factory finish are in for a treat.

Anyway, a couple of photos of it being cautiously propelled over the cobbles at Tormouth Quay while working an enthusiasts' special.  Don't know where the man with the red flag has gone - perhaps he nipped into the pub for a quick one on the way past.

Could well be recreating this scene at the Plymouth Show on Saturday if any of you are there.
