RMweb Premium melmerby Posted August 21, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 21, 2017 (edited) The latest Ikea catalogue p. 67 under the headline "Secure It" has an offer of brackets for securing Chests & Cabinets to walls which consists of what looks like a right angle metal bracket and some screws and washers. The offer is they are FREE to anyone who wants them whether they have Ikea cabinets or not. It says pick up as many as you need. Might be useful for baseboards Keith Edited August 21, 2017 by melmerby

Jongudmund
BRM are doing their supermarket deal this month again, although this time it's a free copy of Narrow Gauge World, not Garden Rail. Last time the double mag wasn't available in regular newsagents/ Smiths. I bought a copy in Sainsbury's this morning. Or if you do buy it in Smiths, it's only 99p. (Seen after I'd bought the 2 mag bundle)

MatthewCarty
Looking on The Hereford Model Centre website, there are quite a few bargains to be had in the Bachmann steam section (haven't looked at much else yet), 4fs from £76, small prairie tank £72, 5mt from £102, 4mt £87. I'd say these are quite reasonable prices in comparison to current rrp.

Jack374
I know I'm treading a fine line here, but I thought I'd remind people that model shops are a wonderful source of bargains, which aren't online or otherwise advertised. I always look forward to a trip to my local model shop, as I never know what I might come out with. Indeed, in the past few months they've had various sales on all sorts of things, and the only way to find out about them is to go in store. Another invaluable resource is the second hand section, in which all manner of items can turn up. Currently, Transport Models of Preston (no connection) have a couple of 37s (Dutch and EWS) for around the £70 mark, as well as a GBRf sound fitted class 20 for £170. Today however, I found a Bachmann BDA bogie bolster in Loadhaul livery, as new, hardly touched at the bottom of a display case. The price was £8. I intended to spend £5 when I turned up and walked away £30+ lighter. Thanks, Jack.

To be accurate, £15 is the threshold at which VAT (20%) kicks in (I believe this is based on the cost excluding shipping, but if that cost goes over £15 you are supposed to pay VAT on the total cost including shipping). The threshold for duty is considerably higher (so that's a bargain, right?)
