D6775
Bit of a slow start to the year, but I seem to have got myself roped into the MIOG group which has given me a bit of a kick I needed. Our layout will be attending the show in Ratenstall in November so we now have a deadline. Anyway, to progress: 37008 has had it buffer beam cut one end. I only did one end so that folks at Stafford this weekend could easily see what was involved, I'll do the other end this week. Heljan Class 37 37008 by endoftheroad, on Flickr I decide that m second 26 would end up as a /0 so 26005 has had its doors replaced, tablet catcher filled, lights filled, bodyside window frames removed along with the banding below the cant rail grills and some spare JLTRT etched added for the missing grills. Again part done so people could see whats involved: Heljan O Gauge 26005 by endoftheroad, on Flickr The 101, well this has been very much on hold, the roof has been really frustrating me even reading how others have done it I was still stumped, not wanting to mess up an expensive kit (don't get me wrong, its good value, just a lot of money), I eventually bit the bullet and took a sander to the roof. after blowing up my old mouse sander, and accepting to get it right I would have to loose the rain strips (I can soon replace these with microstrip) I set to work,. The DTCL is now on its bogies and the roof is fitted, filled and sanded. I am actually quite pleased with it. Hopefully crack on the the other car this week but its back on track. Easybuild 101 DMU by endoftheroad, on Flickr Lastly a couple of us from the MIOG team were at Stafford yesterday (we've got a team there today again) promoting the Exhibition and what we're about. My 37156 also got a spin out on Durham Road TMD, very much looking forward to seeing this in November at Rawtenstall. Untitled by endoftheroad, on Flickr Heljan Class 37 37156 by endoftheroad, on Flickr That's all for now, hopefully back to some regular updates.

Thank you, I'll be honest I cannot remember who I spoke to yesterday it was quite constant which was good. If you're considering chopping the skirts on a 37 Pete Harvey ( http://www.phd-design-etchings.co.uk/ ) does etches for the replacement buffer beam and various plates for the different headcode panels. 37156 was done with these and the split box body will be done similarly. I deliberately left one end of that 37 body with the skirts so you could see the mods clearly, the same with the 26, they both seemed to go down quite well. Al. woodyfox
Lovely job on the DTCL. I found the window vents a real pain to bend on the etched lines. I would strongly advise supporting them from behind when folding up. Bend each side to about 45 degrees and then nip up both with some long nose pliers. Are you planning to add light to the destination blinds?

Thanks for the tip & yes I am planning on illuminating destination blind.
D6775
A few bits and pieces progressed a little this week but the main thing that has been across the workbench has been a 60 which appeared to have been involved in somewhat of a rough shunt. Not a lot of progress this week but one end of 37008 is pretty much done. I have only done one end as its been at Kettering GOG show today so folks can see the changes required from the other end. Once I have got it back this week it will be full steam ahead to do the other end and get it in primer. It will hopefully get finished ready to break cover at the Doncaster show in June all being well. D6775
Well the mojo has well and truly gone at the moment. Not much progress to report at all. I was planning to keep these buildings under wraps until I had got somewhat further but hopefully putting them out in the open might just give me the push I need to crack on. These are the basic shells for the station buildings on Russel Street: Untitled by endoftheroad, on Flickr Untitled by endoftheroad, on Flickr Untitled by endoftheroad, on Flickr The left building in the above picture will be up against the back scene with the right building open at the rear at the front of the layout.

Yep all Pete's bits so far and some microstrip for the cowling. I must have done those cowlings about a dozen times before I was happy, kept snapping it! I've also got a couple of JLTRT ( I think) headlights for it. I must get it sorted so it can go for paint. Still need to do the other end! Not making much progress at the moment, I need a serious injection of motivation. Edited March 30, 2019 by D6775
D6775
Right, time to breath some life back in to my work bench thread - the 37/4's have arrived and the first one has gone under the knife. 37008 is also now ready for paint! First under the knife is a Mainline loco. The two errors on these models I think are most notable (ignoring the window/grill issues, which are hidden reasonably well in this livery) are the boiler exhaust blanking plate which is far too proud, they were welded flush on the 37/4 conversion and the massive block of plastic behind the ETH jumper. The boiler blanking plate is a fairly simple case of sanding it back and will need a touch of paint to cover, then will get blended in with weathering. The plate the ETH cable is mounted to is rather more difficult, if only it was a separate molding but it is part of the body. Once removed this was replaced with some scrap platicard. Hopefully a further update in less than 3 months!! Al.
D6775
Not a massive update this week, most spare time for modelling has been used up on the station buildings for Russel Street. However, I have been looking for a bridge for another little project and ended up buying a Purple Bobs kit, now as nice as this will likely be it still didn't really suit the purpose I wanted it for, so with a pill of plasticard I decide to have a go at scratch building what we need. Now I am no great modeller, but it is starting to look how I want it. It is intentionally in two pieces as its planned to go across a board join, all will eventually be revealed! Bridge Deck: And with supports in place: Next to finish the ends off and clad it, not sure weather to go with brick with some detail or stone. That's all for now. D6775
Wow, over a month this time since I have posted any kind of update on here. Most work at the moment has been on Russel street and another little project for the GoG show this coming weekend. This bridge will form part of it, now its not perfect but its looking the part and I am happy with it which is the main thing. As i say, I am no scenic modeler in any way but this should do. It may get some more work post GoG but we'll see if I can be bothered! Hopefully be some more progress in the next few weeks as Russel Street progresses and some stock for the layout gets worked on for the Novermber exhibition. D6775
So post Telford I've ended up with a couple more items to build and review. A Buzz models MEA and an Intentio Platelayers hut. Both of which are just about complete baring painting. Write ups for these will appear on the modernimageogauge website eventually along with a full write up of my first 26 build. I also invested in a PRMRP BDA wagon and a second Buzz Models IWA. The IWA is still untouched (probably make some in roads over the next couple of weeks but there will hopefully be some transfers for these wagons in the not too distant future, there are moves afoot! The BDA however has made some progress and I hope to have it near to completion over the weekend baring paint., I will also write up my progress with this when I get chance. That's all for now. Dougal Hi Dougal, It not a bad kit at all if you're interested then drop Andrew an email at sales@buzzmodels.co.uk or ring 01923 672809 , they're the contact details off the website & facebook page (though the website is still a holding page). Keep in mind thought that he does have a day job so may not be easily reachable or particularly quick to respond. I think the kit is £45 & you'll need wheels, couplings, paint and transfers to complete. Steve at Railtec has just done the coal logo's for me available here. I have used Peartree wheels & added NMRS sprung buffers in place of the cast ones and will either use Dapol instanters or I think I have a spare set from another kit. A full write up will appear on the MIOG website when its painted and I get chance to write it up. Any problems give me a shout, and If you do order off Andrew let him know that you've seen the one I'm building. Al.
