A couple of obsolete liveries on different generations...

Modelling notes; don't worry if your platform signage doesn't hang straight and true. or if your etched footbridge railings are a bit bent!

On 5th March 2022 Northern Trains 195105, working 1B22 Blackpool North to York, correctly takes the 'Down Leeds' line at Micklefield Junction.

In case anyone thinks that I'm on the wrong side of the railway boundary, the photos were taken from the footpath that leads from the York/Hull platform (which is not the platform in the second photo) to the adjacent car park.  This Google Maps image shows the position;  Micklefield railway station

Away from its usual route on 5th March 2022 due to engineering work - the ECML was closed between Doncaster and south of York at Colton Junction, LNER Azuma 800108 speeds through Micklefield east of Leeds with 1S12, London Kings Cross to Edinburgh.

Now, what if the line between Leeds and York was electrified as a priority?

Two views of the same train, one zoomed and one wide, from the towpath at Rotherham Parkgate. A 158 on an Adwick-Sheffield service.

1) the big steel overbridge at Aldwarke Junction is in the centre distance, and the limit of the tram-train electrification is on the left:

2) there's a trolley but there's no catering on board. On the left, a tram-train is waiting for it to pass before heading back to Sheffield Cathedral:

On 12th March 2022, with spring only ten days away and a hint of warmth in the sunshine, a TransPennine Express class 185 heads east along the Colne Valley at Marsden with a local service from Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield.

I think the graffiti on the bridge sums up the unit crossing it, even if it started out basically as an EMU rather than DMU....

Rather a hackneyed shot, but there you go. Today's 0710 Penzance - Padd, formed of 800003 + 802006, passes near the Somerset/Wiltshire border.

I like the context the bridge and other bits bring to the shot. I think it’s a really nicely composed shot.

Dangerously close to the Three-Quarter view, but quite a variety of DMU's in Sheffield today.

150, 2x158, 170, 195 & 222.

There was also a pair of 156's in the platform to my left !

Considering that the seawall at Dawlish is just about the most photographed location on the UK rail network, well done for finding that first shot @Ramblin Rich. I'm not sure I've ever seen a shot through any of the tunnels before.

Thanks! 😀I've seen one in a book, possibly  by Colin Marden, zoomed in more with a class 50 in a similar position and a track worker standing alongside. It inspired me to try this. These were off a phone camera, having tried it I'd like to go back with a proper zoom lens another time.
