Tim V
Using a 511 - no. Using a Sprog and JMRI Decoder Pro - yes.
Nigelcliffe
If the ZTC can read CV 7 and CV8, then yes you can do it. Look up the results for maker at the NMRA website, or you can use the data within JMRI (on website) to look up make and potential list of models of decoder. Note that its quite common to get several candidate decoders from the two CV's as the differences are in the packaging of the decoder, not its core software. ( It is a doddle with a computer interface and JMRI, but that's another matter ).
Dr.Glum
Hello Gents, My vintage 2003 ZTC511 can read back CVs (with loco on the programming track of course), so CV8 etc should be available. The proviso is that some locos won't read back at all - something to do with not enough kick back from the motor, so dear old 511 doesn't know it's had a reply. Cheers, Tony
