Part of an exchange with Iain Robinson and Allan Downes. Appropriate company! https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/70935-anything-you-can-do-i-can-do-better-robinson-and-downes/?do=findComment&comment=1840603 That's a lovely building but sadly we didn't find anything like that in Grahame's effects.
RMweb Gold Popular Post Mikkel Posted July 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) A Thames barge has crossed the North Sea. Some years ago Grahame posted photos of his superb scratchbuilt 7mm Thames barge, and I’ve admired it ever since. It is now anchored in Copenhagen and is a good reminder of the fun and always inspiring exchanges with Grahame on here. Every time I look at it new detail emerges, a good example of Grahame's craftmanship. A huge word of thanks to Grahame’s family, and to Tim who invested considerable time in making sure it arrived safely in Denmark - including this clever purpose-built box that worked a treat. A whole project in itself, many thanks Tim. Also among Grahame’s treasures was this unfinished 1:43 model of a Dutch gunboat from Mantura Models. I wonder what Grahame's plans were with this one. The model was stuck in Danish customs for a while, perhaps they thought it was a pirate ship! I had the gunboat out for inspection this morning and must admit that it is a rather overwhelming project to complete. But if all else fails I have a family member who is a ship modeller and would no doubt appreciate it greatly. The important thing is that it lives on. kitpw
Grahame's family must be very pleased that these models have found such an appreciative berth across the North Sea. I hope (with family help as necessary!) that you can go on with the second model - it looks quite a challenge but ship models are always a source of fascination - just like railway models. RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted July 6, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 6, 2022 Challenging indeed. One of the things that impressed me with Grahame's modelling was the breadth of his skills. And always very inspiring stuff. 1
RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted July 8, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2022 Good to see this thread is still alive! Here's a snap of G with Ricey at last year's DRAG 'Mini-Scaleforum'. 10
