RMweb Premium JSModels Posted March 18, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 18, 2022 It's been rather busy at JSM headquarters recently - unfortunately NOT with new products - we're in the process of moving house, and since the workshop was at home, that means moving the workshop too! The laser-cutter has already been stripped down & moved to the new place, but there's a lot of work to be done to get the new workshop up to scratch before the machine can be re-commissioned. This means that I'm not in a position to cut anything at the moment - I did manage to run off a few items before the machine was dismantled that I've still to box up & add to the stock, but apart from those I cannot replace stock as it's sold for the time being. It's likely to be several weeks, possibly a couple of months, before I'm back up & running properly which means some items will inevitably be out of stock for a period. Rest assured though, if something is showing as being in stock on the website, then it is genuinely in stock; any orders received will still be dispatched, although there may be a day or two delay on posting them. On the plus side, the new workshop is more than twice the size of the old one - the business has grown quicker than I anticipated and the old space was already very cramped, so this will be most welcome. I'll still be attending Macclesfield show next weekend (26th-27th March) as planned. After that, my next appearance will be our club open day on the 10th April (AVRMC, Keighley) and then I've got nothing booked until Railex Buxton 2nd-3rd July, so I should definitely be back up to speed by then! Onwards & upwards! Regards, Jonathan JSModels 6

RMweb Premium JSModels Posted May 24, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 24, 2022 As of last week, JSModels is back up & running! Some out-of-stock items on the website are now in stock again, others will be added over the coming days & weeks as and when they're cut & boxed up. I'm hoping to have everything back in stock by mid-June, and if things go to plan I might even have a new product or two available for my next shows, which are Keighley MRC's on 25th & 26th June, at their new venue (Woodbank Garden Centre, Harden, Bingley, BD16 1BE) followed a week later by Railex Buxton (2nd & 3rd July). RMweb Premium JSModels Posted June 22, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 22, 2022 The Pump / Boiler House kit I launched earlier this year has proved very popular, and is now joined by a brick-built version: Available now via the website, and will also be featured on my stand at the Keighley exhibition this coming weekend, 25th & 26th June, at Woodbank Garden Centre, Harden, Near Keighley.
RMweb Premium JSModels Posted September 21, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2022 It's been a while (yet again!) since my last update - I really must find a way to fit more hours in a day (or more days in a week)... Exhibitions I was at Leigh a couple of weeks ago, and I'd like to say thank you to several RMWebbers who stopped by for a chat over the course of the 2 days. It was nice to put faces to a few names, and even nicer to hear some very positive comments about my kits! In 48 hours' time, all being well, I'll be in Stafford ready for the exhibition this coming weekend. After that it's on to Wigan next weekend (1st & 2nd October) and then Leeds a few weeks after that. I'm happy to confirm that I will be at the Warley show at the NEC in November too, my first time there (as a trader, at least!) Another first will be the Manchester Christmas Show on the 10th & 11th December. New Products I've been promising some new products for quite a while now - the tower kits have been 'coming soon' for nearly a year now, and they're still not ready! I've had a couple of changes and additions to those in the intervening months, so I think it'll be worth the wait! I've also got a couple of other completely new items waiting in the wings, that I hope to be revealing in the coming weeks & months... In the meantime however, this new kit will be debuting at Stafford this weekend: It's a full building, based on the low relief JSM09 kit (with a few minor changes). With a footprint of 186 x 95mm (approx. 7 1/2" x 3 3/4") and a height of 165mm (6 1/2", give or take) to the ridge, it's a lot smaller than the full building version of the canal warehouse. The back wall is all windows (12 of them) and there is one plain end wall and one with windows & a door: The end walls can be arranged either way round (i.e. the plain wall can be on the left or the right hand end, with reference to the front). The kit has all the usual features - removable windows, optional blanking panels, internal floors, a choice of open or closed doors, roof slates, glazing, etc. Price for this kit will be just £45.00, which I would like to think is very reasonable! As I mentioned earlier it'll be available at Stafford this coming weekend, and then it will be available on the website sometime next week. Jonathan JSModels I am a huge fan of these kits, having made a couple of 00 gauge low relief buildings, the full canal warehouse, and the new boiler house and small chimney. They go together beautifully. Very clear instructions. Look great when painted. RMweb Premium JSModels Posted November 26, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 26, 2022 We're at Warley this weekend, and have some new kits with us - the pump/boiler house, and the small chimney, but this time in O gauge: Being 7mm, these are quite big - this 'small' chimney is slightly taller than the OO gauge 'large' chimney, at approx. 590mm (slightly over 23”). Also, I now have the artwork to do many of my other kits in 7mm too, and whilst they aren't 'stock' items (due to lack of storage space, mainly) they are available on a cut-to-order basis. Paul, Apologies for the delay, I've only just revisited RMWeb this morning, it's been hectic since getting back from Warley! I still haven't got the new stuff on the website, and I'm away again this weekend so won't do so for a while yet, but in the meantime, the boiler house footprint is approx. 275 x 145mm. RMweb Premium JSModels Posted December 13, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 13, 2022 Thank you to everyone who dropped by my stand at either the Warley or Manchester shows, just to say hello, have a chat, or make a purchase. Warley was by far the biggest show I've done, and between that and Manchester, my shelves have never been emptier! For all the people that ordered chimneys/roof slates/accessories/lighting on the Saturday (all contained in the one box I forgot to take!) they have now all been wrapped & will be posted today, though when you will get them is entirely in the hands of the Royal Mail... I'm planning to spend some time over the next few weeks building my stocks back up, developing a couple of new products, and getting the new O gauge/7mm scale products on the website (which, like most things, has taken far longer than it should!) so I can hit the ground running in the New Year. I'll be publishing a list of the booked shows for 2023 in the next few days, once I finalise a few last-minute details. Canal Warehouse Towers 1 & 2 are add-on kits to the 'Canalside' range, designed to hide the joints between multiple kits. Simply butt up 2 or more kits, and place the tower kits over the joints, enabling the construction of much larger building complexes! Tower 1 is a water tower, whilst tower 2 is a slightly more ornate affair, allowing the respectable Victorian business-owner to look down on his employees! I'm hoping to get systems in place so that the date stone on each kit can be customised, so you can add your own date, initials, or short wording. Exact release date and pricing will follow, but in the meantime, here are some pictures of the latest prototypes... Tower 1: Tower 2: Tower 2 has interior detail; a planked floor, internal stonework, and railings: Regards, Jonathan JSModels Has there been any progress on the Canal Warehouse Towers that you first previewed back in December 2021? RMweb Premium JSModels Posted January 19, 2023 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 19, 2023 On 18/01/2023 at 14:55, Dungrange said: Has there been any progress on the Canal Warehouse Towers that you first previewed back in December 2021? When will these be released and how much? David, Regrettably, not anywhere near as much as I would have liked. I took the initial prototypes to Doncaster in February last year, but whilst I was there, little did I know that back in the workshop the 'Colossal Computer C*ck-up' was occurring, in which I lost many months' worth of work, including all the drawings for the towers. Since then I've completely re-done them (with a significant redesign in the process) and expanded the range of products which will be available, but I simply haven't had the time needed to devote to getting them ready for release. Back in October/November I had a cunning plan to get everything done for a big launch an Doncaster this year, including a big spread in BRM, but that plan derailed for a number of reasons beyond my control and now won't happen. There's 7 main products, with variations that take the total number of products to 11 or 12, I think - but it's an all-or-nothing kind of thing; I can't release them one at a time unfortunately as it wouldn't really make sense to do it that way. Most of the design & drawing work is done, and has been for some time, but it's everything else (instructions (which take longer to do than designing the kits themselves!), packaging, website, promotion, etc) that's the stumbling block. I'm still working elsewhere full time, and have a family, so whilst I can grab an hour or two here & there to do bits & pieces, I really need a block of 2 weeks or so to hammer it full-time, and there's just zero chance of that in the foreseeable future... They will come, eventually. Along with everything else on a very long to-do list! Regards, Jonathan JSModels 2
