Quicker than I could post!

We are delighted to announce that Rainbow Railways have commissioned our 4mm/OO model of Caroline 975025 in "viridian" green.

spacer.png

Network Rail acquired 975025 “Caroline” from FM Rail in 2008 and refurbished parts of the interior along with changes to the cab ends with the removal of the SR 27-way jumper cables and headcode boxes plus the addition of new “WIPAC”- style head and tail lights.

The saloon was repainted at the same time into “viridian” green – the rumour is that a Derby apprentice was sent to the local paint shop to match as closely as possible to SR Green with the result that the saloon ended up in this lighter green. Caroline 975025 stayed in this lighter green until 2015 when it was repainted into SR green.

This exclusive version of Caroline will feature all the tooling changes to reflect the changes made to the real coach as well as the standard features for our other 3 versions of Caroline 975025.

The "viridian" green model of Caroline is exclusive to Rainbow Railways and all orders should be placed directly with Rainbow Railways.

Livery samples of 975025/Caroline are due to be with us any time now and once we've assessed them we will set (and announce!) an order deadline so that production can start.  Realistically, we think that delivery is going to be Q2 2022.

Sorry mate!

That might just well be me sold though. Mate's got the current form, and I was happy you'd not offered the viridian green to save my wallet for now. Alas, no more.

Just don't announce an 88 now.

Hello everyone,

As Mike has posted above we are delighted to be able to offer Caroline in Viridian Green. It travelled far and wide in this livery and creates the perfect train for all your DRS 37’s and 47’s that appeared regularly with it.

Available to order now from Rainbow Railways at the early bird price of £149. If your not online we can take your order in person or over the phone too.

Our thanks to Revolution for allowing us to do this option with them.

Thanks

Mark

Interesting mix of moulded and non-moulded Door handrails / grab handles.

Where metal ones are used, I think they need inserting a bit more.

I like the interior, will it be painted ?

Is the glass panel on the cab front a bit too square ? Maybe a bit more rectangular ?

All in all looks pretty good.

Just a thought.

Hi FNC

I wonder if any of the retailers have thought of doing a twin pack?

I guess there would be problems with two different manufacturers involved.

e.g. Fragonset 33103 with the pre-rebuild version SR green, opal green Caroline that was seemingly bolted to 37423, later SR green post rebuild with other 37/4s including 37421?

Yes it has spent a lot of time with 421. More recently with DRS it was 424 and 402 I have seen pics of it with.

I have a 421 and 424 for this exact purpose!

Nice idea, I have 33103 already for exactly this purpose, but would definitely like to see the pre-rebuild version SR green on Caroline... hopefully one day?

And missed it again. I'm not good at keeping up with these deadlines at the moment. Will the Blue/Grey version be available via any of the Revolution resellers?

Hi, detail-wise (excluding colour) are there any differences in the Rainbow Railways exclusive and the Revolution Green one?

Many thanks.

I had a short chat with Ben on the Revolution stand at AP today, and he confirmed that the B/G version will be available via resellers like Rails/Kernow/Trains4U :)

Is there any confirmation on the DCC socket in the 00 version and how many functions will be required to operate all of the various lighting combinations?  There was a suggestion earlier in this thread that it was to be 21 pin and this article confirms that.

https://www.keymodelworld.com/article/caroline-breaks-cover

However, I note that Hattons are describing it as having an 18 pin socket, so that implies a Next18 decoder is required:

https://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklistdatabase/779734/revolution_trains_oo_sgmis_002_inspection_saloon_975025_caroline_in_network_southeast_blue/stockdetail

Obviously both sources can't be correct.
