Stuart Models S.T. Oscillating Engine

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I’ve just bought a nice old S.T. oscillating engine and I was wondering if anybody on here might have one and know what size the threads are on the steam inlet and outlet ports? I don’t yet have the engine, it’s on it’s way from across the pond, so I can’t measure them. But I’m guessing 1/4, 40 tpi.

thanks,

Douglas

Douglas,

I know it's stating the obvious, but why don't you ask the vendor?

They may very well know the fittings size  or  have a set of plug gauges with which to  check the unit.

I do know that the unit does use 5 and 7 BA studs, nuts and grub screws.

The steam fittings are probably either

1/4 x 40 ME or possibly 3/16 x 40 ME.

Be warned there is also a 1/4 x 32 ME thread, but it is not one I've ever used.

Unfortunately it is the 1/4 x 32 thread, I later found out. And of course Stuart Models appear to be the only people on the planet who make fittings in that size. I forgot to post that I found the answer, but thank you though.
