The adjacent (in front) rafter makes it look like a 50% section reduction, but I suspect it's a lot less

But even a 25% reduction in height gives you a 58% reduction in 2nd moment of area, so significant whichever way you look at it.

Hi everyone,

Our friends at TMC - The Model Centre have gone all out and very kindly customised some HYA hoppers with excellent weathering as well as hand painted graffiti.

We know graffiti is an issue on the railways, but it can be argued that it is very difficult to model the current scene accurately without representing it in some fashion. In this case TMC's wizards have really gone to town and captured the look perfectly with some serious skill.

The question i keep forgetting to pose is why when you have cracked the rotating axle end detail with IRM do you not use it on the Accurascale models that rotate??

Good question. To be honest no real reason, but all future Accurascale models will have it.

Cheers!

Thanks Fran, the IRM  bogies you do are superb as i bought some to look at adding the feature to say the Dapol JNA when i get around to it,even a line of high spec replacement bogies would be a great addition to your inventory.

I’d be very interested to know what the problem is and the solution.

I did mention the rolling resistance a while ago...... thinking it may just be a case of running them in?  Pushing 4 or 5 by hand up my gradients makes your arm know it's doing it!

Do they need reaming or slight lubrication?

I've just put decals for the Accurascale HYAs on to the website. £15 plus P&P for 5 wagons worth of decals, these are for the NACCO / GBRf livery.

Could someone remind me what batteries the HYA and IIA wagons require, please?  I seem to recall them requiring "LR41" but just wanted to double check.

Yep, LR41 see: HYA_info_sheet_Biomass.pdf?v=1682034785

I  hope this is the correct Topic - can anyone tell me where the "Accurascale ACC2826 20 ton Diag P7 Coal Hopper wagons in NCB red " wagons were employed or to be seen.

Possibly Ashington colliery but I never visited so my 9300 s are at other sites. Ask in the correct topic, not this modern one.
