LNERGE
15 hours ago, Chris Turnbull said: I've had an enjoyable browse through some of my photos and have found a couple more for your delectation. Thurston box taken on 24th September 1970. Taken into the sunlight unfortunately but it was either that or no photograph at all. I had always thought that Thurston would make a good subject for a model and had obtained the trackplan some time previously. Before I went off to university I cycled over to Thurston to take a few shots. Many years later my dream was fulfilled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP0m9lwUcxM This is the box on the LNWR side at Sandy on 8th April 1969. The train is lifting track on the Varsity Line . The platform to the left is where us trainspotters were banished to in its heyday. Chris Turnbull I've been after a picture of that brake van for years! It confirms what i thought it said on the side. Super picture.
Poor Old Bruce
Thanks for all the 'Likes' folks, it makes it worth the effort of searching and posting. Two of Water Orton East Junction in 1984 showing some of the surrounding dross and paraphenalia. ... and two of another 'box which could be Wembley/Stonebridge Park area or ccould be Wolverton, again from 1984. Edit - Wolverton, thanks go to Beast66606 again. Edited December 24, 2020 by Poor Old Bruce

Water Orton East was a ground frame by that stage, having been downgraded when Saltley PSB took control of the area in 1969. The other box is Wolverton (ex No.2 iirc) - also a ground frame, down graded when Bletchley PSB took control of the area in 1965

Poor Old Bruce
Special thanks to Beast66606 for information and corrections (there's more to come in my collection). Coton Crossing. Note the door has been altered from end to back. I should have a pic of the track side somewhere. Fflint 1984 Hickleton Main Colliery Sidings, 1984. Not much sign of a colliery at that date! Somewhere between Shrewsbury and Hereford I Think, possibly Leominster, 1984. EDIT - Nowhere near, 4069 tells us it's Abergavenny. Rivercider
If that is Manchester Victoria above is this the neighbouring box? ( I was concentrating on the train and included the building for balance) 47523 at Manchester Victoria, my notes say passing Manchester Victoria West signal box, but I am not verey familiar with the area. 21/6/82 cheers Edited December 25, 2020 by Rivercider remove addl photo
Rivercider
I have found two more photos that show boxes in the Bristol area that survived the MAS scheme. Hallen Marsh was one of the five remaining boxes in the Avonmouth area, Ashton Junction is on the Portishead line. On a dull morning the weekday morning service from Severn Tunnel Junction arrives at Ashton Junction with HTVs and HTOs of coal for the Western Fuel Coal Concentration Depot at Wapping Wharf. 11/2/80. Hallen Marsh signal box. 5/2/81 cheers, and happy Christmas everyone Edited December 25, 2020 by Rivercider spelling
