Pillar
A few photos of recent progress. The Mk3 Transit is complete, along with passenger and faithful collie. Also now in the works is an Alexander A Type bodied Atlantean (Marsden Models kit with wheels from RTI) which will end up in Northern yellow. This is the first double decker I've fitted lights to, but I think I've come up with a reasonable way of wiring the lights on both decks without too much intrusive wiring. Finding space for the battery box proved to be a challenge; in the end I hollowed out the solid casting of the engine 'bustle' to make space. The hollow casting was then attached using miniature magnets to allow for removal and replacement of the batteries. The next job will be fitting the tail lights. 37114
That Atlantean is looking great, good idea re the Engine bustle, it is a while since I have made a bus model but the removable Engine cover is a great idea, as you could include the engine detail in a non lit version
Pillar
Thanks. I'd like to make one with the engine cover open too. Just need a decent representation of a Leyland 680 or Gardner 6LXB! Edited May 28, 2021 by Pillar
fodenway
If I remember correctly, Bolton's Bits did make just such a unit for detailing the back end of Atlantean/Fleetline/VRT etc., but I understand that the owner (John Fitness) is no longer producing the range. The Model Bus Federation may be able to help.
Pillar
At long last the Metrorider is finished. It didn't actually take 6 months; I've only been working intermittently on it. Spot the patriotic SAFC fan on his way back from Roker Park... Edited November 30, 2021 by Pillar 6
37114
That Metrorider interior looks excellent, some great modelling on this thread. I thought I was going to town on my 7mm Leyland National but some of your modelling is another level, great stuff.
