I thought that these were as rare as rocking horse doo-doos and yet this Victorian store has more than ten instock.

There are certainly plenty out there....

 

Both single and Packs of 3 were released.

 

The impression of scarcity seems to have been formed as pre orders were high.

 

It seems that some pre orders were for quantities of the items, with a view to selling on.

 

But the real demand has seemingly proved to be somewhat less than the speculators would have liked.

Kernow have 10 of the singles as well and not surprisingly more than 10 of the triple pack given its higher equivalent cost

Would appear to be a popular item where supply has exceeded demand.  The new batch of Rocket train packs may rekindle interest.

That was last year when they were scarce. I'm pretty sure a new batch has been made more recently.

That is the triple pack at a higher price per coach (if you ignore the overpricing some sellers were doing last year to the detriment of their reputation) R40102

The new Rocket is a gem among gems. Runs beautifully and exquisitely detailed. I got a three pack of the open coaches, but quickly discovered that the dimunitive Rocket will not pull more than three coaches of anything, even though the metal wheels are quite free rolling. Also, in the photo, it is not showing the plastic chain used to link up the rolling stock. Perhaps it will be in the box.
