RMweb Premium 47137 Posted July 27, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 27, 2021 I wonder, can we use the Roco chassis from their steel carriers as the underpinnings for any British models? Length over headstocks about 35 ft 4 in (124 mm) Bogie centres about 22 ft 6 in (79 mm) The parent models are much too wide for the British outline but the chassis moulding measure only about 32 mm, only a tiny bit excessive and not terribly noticeable. Roco 46941 and 4749 amongst others. Some nice things about these chassis is they include cams for the coupler pockets and they run well. I am reluctant to let them go but really I ought to find out if I can ever use them. - Richard.
RMweb Premium CloggyDog Posted November 5, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 5, 2023 I've made use of the old Jouef/Playcraft underframes under a number of my H0 wagons: The 105mm length chassis is good as is for the LNER 22t Tube (BR diagram 1/445) and cut-down under Plates and TTAs. The 81mm 'Mineral' underframe, again cut down, makes a good 12ft wheelbase underframe for Grampus, Pipes, etc. There's a seller on ebay (tonysstoreonline) who sells the Jouef underframes alone for around £2.50 a pop 4
