Much may depend on whether other manufacturers see an opportunity and whether an L and B Baldwin ever appears.

Following a footplate ride on LYN on Sunday, Richard from Lionheart was heard to say "I wish we'd done LYN first", so who knows what might happen... ;)

Ray.

Just talked to Slaters and they are retooling some of the castings for the goods stock so it will be 4-6 months before these are available again.

Richard Webster kindly let us borrow one of the display samples for a quick photoshoot over on the 7mmNGA stand today at Kettering:

And some from me. Can blame Paul Martin of EDM Models for this. I sent the photo of them in the case to Paul who replied with “any chance you can get a photo outside the case?” A challenge we gratefully accepted!

My biggest problem now is that I have one loco on order from Paul. Do I need to increase that order….

Ive grown up hearing all about the L&B..... ive never been but my father and uncle (both ex Southern steam men and both sadly no longer alive) both liked the railway and were both big fans of the line and the locos and generally anything steam or narrow gauge and often spoke about it.

Modern image 00 gauge is more my thing these days so after i had drooled over the Dapol 59s in the Dapol cabnet at the Ally Pally show this weekend and then admired the class 73s i worked my way up the cabnet to be greated by these absolutely beautiful L&B locos, the Southern Green one captivating my interest, it looks fantastic, and whilst not cheap, i can see myself buying one of these.

Can anyone confirm if im reading and understanding it right, these locos whilst being narrow gauge will run on standard Hornby/Peco 00 gauge track?

Yes but remember that they are 7mm Scale (O Gauge size) and so will be much wider and taller than your OO stock - might hit your platforms and bridges . . . . . .

Subject to minimum radii of 2ft, which rules out Hornby and Peco Setrack pointwork.

It’s designed to use the Peco O16.5 points as a minimum. That was said by Richard at the initial release at the L&B.

Thanks, Paul.

The only Peco O-16.5 pointwork I found on their website are the three Streamline points, which are stated to be of 610mm radius (2ft as near as makes no odds).

Do they also make points to Setrack geometry in O-16.5? I haven't yet fully got the hang of navigating their website so may have missed something!

Regards,

John

No there’s just those three, L, R & Y.
As you note they are 2ft radius +0.2mm ! :)

Livery samples for the carriages just been released. L&B early and late and Southern for all three coach types. Look awesome, and under £100 on Hattons and other sites.

Can’t find them on a Hattons site so here’s the RoS page instead.

Slightly surprised no-one has spotted this on World of Railways:

Plenty of L&B spotting in there...

That’s why we have you to alert us by putting it in the topic Phil 😆
