Quote from Skaters T&C MINIMUM ORDER VALUE. For orders to be delivered to the UK or the rest of the world outside of the EU, the minimum order value is £10.00 (inclusive of VAT if applicable, but excluding Postage & Packing). For orders to be delivered to the EU, the minimum order value is £140.00 (excluding Postage & Packing). This is due to changes in VAT legislation following the UK's exit from the EU." RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted October 9, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 9, 2021 By the way, there is no justification for the £140 minimum order. All Slater's have to do different is deduct the VAT (which costs them nothing), put on the appropriate stamps (which the customer pays for) and fill in the customs declaration form. 1

The unmentionable has increased the amount of red tape for businesses small and large as well as for individuals, at least insofar as they wish to have any dealings outside the Sceptred Isle*, which is not at all what we were promised, so no-one can say we voted for it. *I have this mental image of the Island of Great Britain skewered on the prongs of Britannia's trident - thoroughly shafted. 1 1
RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted October 9, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 9, 2021 (edited) To claim that they are so hard pressed that they can't fill in a simple form at the post office, and thus won't bother unless one orders over £140 (ex vat) worth of stuff. That's what I found funny. However I am aware that was only your suggestion, and may not be Slater's reason. jaym481
As they aren't charging extra to fill out customs forms for the rest of the world outside the EU, I hardly think that's justification for the minimum. It's coincidentally close to the amount under which they have to collect VAT at point of sale in accordance with the recent agreements. I don't blame them for not wanting to collect and remit taxes for other countries.

RMweb Gold Accurascale Fran Posted October 26, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 26, 2021 Decorated Chaldrons Are Here - We Reveal Packs A-D There were a few surprised faces when we launched our Chaldron waggons as the genesis of our "Powering Britain" series last month, as we opened our range to a whole new era of operation and modellers. Naturally, doing these wagons "The Accurascale Way" means creating several different body, brake and wheel variations to offer a comprehensive coverage of these distinctive and rather cute little hoppers. Oh, and of course, our love for distinctive markings and extra attention to detail! Decorated samples have now arrived for assessment, and over the next week we will reveal all decorated samples. Each of our packs have been themed by colliery, or user, with each waggon depicted being based on photographic evidence and reference to colliery records to confirm the lettering styles, but what of the Collieries and users themselves? In our latest blog we provide a brief outline for each operator, and where the depicted lettering style sits within the timeframe for that operator. Today is packs A-D, so click on the link here and enjoy the read! https://accurascale.co.uk/blogs/news/decorated-chaldrons-are-here-we-reveal-packs-a-d More to come during the week! RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted October 26, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2021 Interesting to read that there were still a thousand in NER service in 1904. It would be interesting to understand where and how they were being used - were they confined to certain mineral branches?
