Evening All,

The final instalment of my video footage from the Saturday is now on YouTube.  It shows the Grand Finale of the day's running which was two trains running in parallel from Hythe to New Romney - and both were triple-headed!  They arrived at New Romney side-by-side and accompanied by fireworks and a cacophony of whistling.  Was it a fitting 'grand finale'? - Well, judge for yourselves:

Now to start on editing Sunday's videos...

TTFN,

Ron.

I have now edited the first part of Sunday's footage and this is a ride from New Romney to Dungeness behind the Krupp Pacific No.11 BLACK PRINCE:

I spent much of the Sunday at Dungeness and the footage that I shot there will appear on YouTube in due course - as will the footage of the final train of the weekend which had six engines, all steam, on a 22 carriage train...

TTFN,

Ron.

Evening All,

There are a few more short clips of the RHDR on YouTube if anyone would like to have a look:

I went down for the RH&DR's 95th Anniversary Steam & Diesel Gala Weekend on Thursday 12th and came back on Monday 16th. Boy, it was a busy weekend, especially on Saturday. They had every available carriage in service and they still run out of room on some trains. The weather was glorious on Saturday which I think attracted more day trippers to the area.

Also, there are three places (at the time of writing) where you can get model railway related bits and pieces in Hythe (all in the High Street). Applej-Ax, Hythe Sweets & Kent Model Exchange, and Train Stop in the Malthouse Arcade (only open on Fridays and Saturdays).

P.S. perhaps the title of this thread can be amended to that of a general one about the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway?

Evening All,

I have finally got round to editing the penultimate part of the video footage that I shot on the RH&DR in October, 2021.  So come with me on a high speed run on a non-stop train comprising 22 carriages hauled by seven steam engines; this episode runs from Dungeness to New Romney, where it comes to a rather abrupt stop:

Hope you like it.  If you missed any of the previous episodes, there is a link to the complete playlist under the video and at the end of the video.

TTFN,

Ron.
