Gaugemaster Tension Lock uncoupler

I've come across a bundle of these that I bought a while ago, and I'm looking at installing some on my new layout.

 

I've already decided to go down the DCC route for control of the points themselves, and want to do the same for these, but unsure exactly whats needed. They are effectively half a solenoid point motor, but would a normal accessory decoder do the job?

It might be an idea to email Gaugemaster technical team, they are really helpful.

I have done, and they didnt have an immediate answer, so are going to look into it. 

 

In the meantime I thought I would ask here in case anyone else has done this.

If you found out I'd appreciate some advice as I have just acquired 5 of these in a job lot of stuff. I'm considering adapting the huge metal top decoupling part as well. It looks ugly.

I never did get an answer, and no one seems to be using these. Probably explains why they get sold cheap in bundles!
