I've just found this what might be of interest. Some nice footage & recordings which capture more than just the trains.

At about the 20 minute mark the narrator seems to refer to a Standard 2-6-4T as a "Dot And Carry One Tank". Has anyone ever heard that terminology before?

<Edit> It does sem to be a genuine idiomatic expression http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-dot1.htm but how it applies to a loco I don't know

An update....

Extensive testing has been undertaken and some experimentation with KD magnets.....

Today's sunny weather meant that the first colour (Phoenix Precision Weathered Sleeper Track colour) could be sprayed on..

In other news I have been experimenting with some cut down Townstreet bridge castings

and building a wagon kit - the re-issued Peco PC92....all jolly good fun...

More progress - a good day for spraying outside so a few colours were added to the track and the rails given a weak wash of rust colour. Still much to do..

The late Malcolm Crawley used the phrase to describe a loco that was sounding an irregular beat and needed some attention to the setting of its valves.

The departure of Gare de Brindille has meant I have a bit of bench space....Timsbury Bottom now has end boards. These need to be well fixed as they tend to get used to lift the layout out of the 77L RUB...This also means I can remove and re-fit as necessary during construction

Interesting to see just how compact Timmy's Bottom is.

Does the siding at bottom left go somewhere, Chris? Private siding? Good to see the trap point in place 👍

David

It does David - under a second bridge. There will be a gate to an industry as yet unspecified - it may vary depending on the rolling stock used.

This is the fiddle yard.
