Looks to be based on the Welshpool & Llanfair ones.

Now looking around for a suitable backscene. I want something set in a valley, but no visible buildings.

Have you thought about getting your own photo printed on foamex?

This will be at the Lynmouth end. The access to the station will be over this. I got a bit heavy handed with the spray when adding soot and had to repaint above the arch.

This to go at the Porlock end. Based on Church lane, Parracombe.

Both of these are resin from eBay. Photo's of originals from geograph.co.uk.

Paul Levy’s kits and I hope the range grows further still as I really like them. He’s been working on another bridge, I must pop him an email to see if it’s nearly ready.

And a few items of stock.

Egger-Bahn tram carriage.

These always reminded me of the W&L carriages. I have two of these. All I have done is removed the scroll on the sides and painted olive drab to match the Peco L&B carriages.

 Tri-ang TT bogie bolster.

Riding on Nine Lines L&B bogies. Apart from removing the buffers, I have added a fishbelly plate to replace the underframing.

Cut and shut of two Liliput 4 wheel opens.

Now a couple that I made around 30 years ago.

Same construction as the flat, with Ratio lineside fencing for the sides and Evergreen V planking for the door/ramp. Both of these are on Nine Lines bogies.

It's a possibility. I still have 7 days off when I get back From the Isle of Man, so I might pop down and grab a few photo's.

They are really nice. Caught my eye when browsing on eBay.

Very similar and a tad smaller I would say.

Assembled the Grainge & Hodder baseboards I have. Must say that they go together well, although getting the sides on the curved one was a little fraught, what with only two adjustable clamps to hold the side in. The instructions are minimal, but construction is obvious, well to me it was. Not mentioned is that you need to sand the ends of the diagonal cross braces to fit. With the other being collect from a mate in Manchester, I will then have 2 x900mm long for the fiddle yards, a 1200mm for the station and the 60° curve for scenic section.

With a view to myself, or someone else, repurposing the boards in the future, I have decided to apply a layer of Depron foam directly to them. The Depron is fairly easy to remove without damage to the boards. The landscape structure can be glued to this with No More Nails or similar, then given a coating of Sculptamold. Trackbed will again see a layer of Depron as it is easy to get a nice shard shoulder to the ballast.

I've used laminate floor underlay instead of Depron, as I only have 3 sheets left and the maker now requires a minimum order of 40 sheets, £132. This was left over from the floor in the library/computer/hobby room. The foam I will be using for the scenery is fairly dense, so a number of screws will be inserted from below for extra strength.

Knife blades for my jigsaw arrived this morning, so I have cut the foam. It's quite dense, meant for underfloor heating, hence using a jigsaw for the main cuts to get a good clean edge.

A 3D print of Beddgelert water tank. Comes in 3 parts, base tank and spout.

Hi Julian,

Following this thread with interest! I meant to say CustomOO9 have released (or are about to) a 3D-print of Parracombe water tank here. Post is dated January 29th. I tried to include a direct link, but it returns to RMWeb home page! Probably a bit late for you, but may be of interest.

Cheers,

Mark

A bit more work done today. The platform is not glued down.

275309936_10161920277694012_4337084821091136846_n.jpg.aa035ffa7dc3872157b16800ec50fc14.jpg

Trying to determine whether to have the platform rail height, or slightly higher.

Dug out some old Ratio platforms from my Tolmouth layout. Cut them down to one block plus edging. Now to decide whether 'up' is to Minehead or Lynmouth. Whatever, the platform with the building on it (platform 1?) will be painted with texture paint and the other, shorter, will be grassed.

Question. Were there any instances were the main platform was used for passenger trains in both directions and the other only when trains were passing?

I should really know this, as at Weston-super-mare both platforms are bi-directional and we cross on either side. But this may just be a modern phenomenon, since this was originally double track.

A little work has taken place. The platforms are down, but other progress curtailed by an urge to build another wood kit for the HOn3. I love building them, I find it much more satisfying than plastic kits. And a few leaving/retirement do's.

Just to keep you going, here is a wintery scene from Exmoor.

Imagine the railway winding it's way along the valley. Could that be the remains of the trackbed, middle left?

Finding it hard to find the mojo to get on with this at the moment. Getting on with module to fit into the HOn3 at the moment. Maybe if I was to actually do something on it, it may help.

Malmsmead may have reached the end of the road, so to speak. Something has come up that may mean I don't have room for it. If it all comes off, the stock and buildings will be up for sale.

Sad, yet not sad at the same time.

I am in the process of purchasing  Cwm Prysor. I have always had an interest in this line and was really interested in purchasing it when it was originally  put up for sale. My intention is to exhibit it at some point in the future. For home use, it may well double up as a section of the proposed branch from Lairg to Laxford bridge in the North of Scotland, a similarly exposed route. This would utilise some of the stock from my Scourie Harbour layout that was built for the first RMweb challenge way back in 2007. As all of the photo's from the original build were lost in the Great RMweb meltdown of 2022, I will at some point start a new thread for it. I would like to thank @Tom F for building the layout and @geoff west for allowing me to purchase it.

Jules bit of a shame for Malmsmead as a long-standing L&B fan I followed with great interest. Would you reinsert the photos before signing away to Cwm-Prysor?.

you’ll see many comments of mine on that thread as I’m a great fan of it as well, I did consider it when Tom was selling but was A too far and B more than I could afford!

Good luck with it and I look forward to it on the exhibition circuit.

You can’t be far from me 200 yards from Radstock north!

Do you follow Tom on FB with his Skarloey Railway? The only place he posts I believe but incredible modelling.

Cheers

Ade
