6990WitherslackHall
Good news! I've sent some money to the person who was selling the model of 80135 in order to purchase it. I've yet to hear back from him.
6990WitherslackHall
Update: I've not purchased 80135 and I asked for the money back as something popped up. Hopefully, if he still has it, I will purchase it in the near future.
6990WitherslackHall
I was able to visit Grosmont on the 25th May and managed to get a few photos of the site. The front of the wheel drop Close up of the side of the wheel drop Another view of the front. The gates and post with sign. Black 5 5428 Eric Treacy was stabled outside it. Also on display was the tenders of Standard 4mt 2-6-0 75029 (a model of which I hope to get in a few weeks) and Black 5 44806. Behind the tenders were some driving wheels. Both tenders were rusty in certain places and I wanted to recreate this scene when we get round to doing it. 6990WitherslackHall
Also there was stuff occupying both of the tracks opposite the wheel drop. The nearest track was occupied by the breakdown train And on the furthest track was a range of different wagons and the two loco tenders mentioned previously.
6990WitherslackHall
I also managed to visit the shed shop and picked up these two: These will become 76079 and 926 Repton. I'm hoping to make these two into working models using various parts I've brought both second hand and new.
6990WitherslackHall
I visited Grosmont again on Thursday (02/06/22) and took a couple of pictures.
6990WitherslackHall
I recently brought this totem fridge magnet. This will go on the front of the layout when I get it back out again. I'll have to find some small magnets or some nails/screws. 6990WitherslackHall
I've seen 80135, 80136, 75029 and 76079 for sale on ebay. I haven't done anything to the layout since I last posted or bought anything as it's currently in storage.
6990WitherslackHall
Been a while since I've updated the page but I have the first loco for the layout: L&YR Class 21 0-4-0ST 51218 The real loco visited the line in the autumn of 2001. Although photos and videos of its visit are scarce, I've found a few. I've also began assembly of 926 and 76079 but I've not progressed too far with them. 6990WitherslackHall
I've found 75029 and 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley on eBay. I've also found 76079 but it has the wrong BR emblem on the tender. I've bid for 75029, it ends in 1hr and 21 mins. I hope I win it.
6990WitherslackHall
Right another update. Still no work on the layout but I won 75029 and it's been test ran and it runs smoothly. I've also purchased Class 24 D5061 in 'as perserved' condition. It's light fitted, which I found out on its test run, and runs smoothly. I've also brought J72 0-6-0T 69023. It's not been test run yet but I'm hoping it works. 75029 and D5061 on my work-in-progress OO gauge layout shortly after the test runs. The Black Hat
Hello, following your updates with interest. Nice to see preservation being modelled and someone so eager to show their enthusiasm for the hobby. Are you running a digital system as I would recommend that so that you don't have to convert a load of engines later.

No, the layout is analogue control. Each track has its own power track except for the one nearest the backscene, which is for displaying models only. The Black Hat
You might want to think of saving up and getting a digital set up. It can take time but means you avoid the change over later on. I know how it takes time to save up when your younger for the next model, but really hope it all goes as you plan and that you become someone who can showcase enjoyment for the hobby for many others to admire.
