Some stock (left to right Z43 shunter on a wagon, X9 EMU and T43 diesel. A coach in the main yard note the trees growing through the bogies Inside the museum was this coach: The board next to it explained that it had been damaged and was going to be conserved. And model the USA in HO on a large permanent layout (https://jmjk.se/english/home) The following day was really hot (35 degrees), and I took myself off to Skansen Some modern trams on the line from the city center ( the route is usually worked as a heritage service), the vehicles were being used for training and were not in public service. EddieB Posted August 3, 2022 Share Posted August 3, 2022 The "unidentified" steam loco is an R class 4-6-0 (which is leading a second R class 4-6-0). The same pairing looks to be on the right of the last picture. The R class came into two sub-types, externally similar. R(I) consisted of 20 2-cylinder locomotives built by Borsig (1912-13) and SLM (1917), and R(II) 10 3-cylinder locomotives built by Borsig (1921) and Frichs (1924). Two (one from each sub-type) were retained for preservation and maintained in working order. It can be hard to tell the two preserved examples apart, but R(I) no. 946 (Winterthur 2594/1917) had a central locking wheel on the smokebox door and R(II) no. 963 (Frichs 56/1924) no such wheel, and catches around the rim of the door (these were later modifications to some of both types). The leading locomotive appears to have the wheel, so I suggest it is probably no. 946. Alongside is a vintage tank car SJ502036 another tank car and the end of a SJ O wagon. RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted September 26, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 26, 2022 Back in time to 1998 when the Swedish Railway Club (SJK) ran a large multi day rail tour before major changes / improvements to the network were made in the early 2000's Also it was a chance to celebrate 40 years of the society hence the tour's name Kör 40 The tour started in Stockholm with a quick trip to Vartan and then an overnight trip to Gothenburg Motive power was TGOJ Ma 403 (ASEA 1954), note the porthole windows on the side against the SJ version which had square windows. RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted October 3, 2022 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2022 We all changed from our sleeper train into our first multiple unit of the day: X9 No 138 Our routing from Gothenburg was; along the Bohus line to Uddevalla, then across via Öxnered to Håkantorp where we changed trains for a run via Lidköping to Gårdsjö and then on to Falköping. The photos were taken where the the line crosses the Nodre älv, the views were pretty good... RMweb Premium 5944 Posted October 8, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 8, 2022 I'm lucky, I don't have to go too far for a Swedish fix. Y7 1212 at the Nene Valley Railway a couple of years ago. They've also bought a trailer as well, so it now runs as a two car unit a lot of the time. Once 73050 City of Peterborough is overhauled, the intention is overhaul the Swedish B class 4-6-0 no. 101.
