dave55uk
Hi. I'm Dave, a 66 year old lifelong train and model railway enthusiast. Myself and a few friends are building 'Whitedown Junction', a freelance 'BR Blue*' OO gauge layout set somewhere down South where the Southern and Western regions meet. We have a Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/WhitedownJn and a couple of videos on YouTube - just search for Whitedown Junction. Now the point of this post is simply we want more people involved! Due to where some of our group live, and because of other commitments, not everyone can make every meeting, and sometimes it's only two of us. We are going to need more than that if we are ever going to get WDJ to exhibitions :-) We also would like more help getting the layout out of storage and setting up, and taking it down and putting it back when we've finished. We generally meet once a month, in Ely (Cambridgeshire), on a Saturday, between 0800ish until anywhere between 1500 and 1800, depending on when we've had enough. We are not a club or society, there are NO fees to pay, no membership, no hall hire etc. etc. The layout itself is built, all the trackwork is down, and it is controlled by DCC. The locos and rolling stock are our own, as is the Nelevator and DCC equipment. Otherwise, stuff (scenery, buildings etc.) on the layout simply belongs to the layout. We had a bit of a hiatus during the Covid lockdown, naturally, but fortunately the layout came out of it unscathed. So now it's time to finish off the layout, start to play trains, and look forward to taking it out. So if you are located near enough, are interested in BR Blue*, like the Southern or Western regions, have a skill you'd be willing to share with us, or simply you like playing trains AND will be willing to come and help us at exhibitions, then please get in touch, initially by PMing me on here, and then we can switch to email or Facebook as necessary. * BR Blue - that includes stuff up to NSE and even later when 'Rule 1' applies :-)
