thetalkinlens
I have a Bachmann Fairburn which is lifting above track level when negotiating point checkrails. I think the issue is the back to back on the centre driving wheels being too wide. I've corrected back to backs on rolling stock plenty of times, but attempting to do so on driving wheels with motion is a more daunting prospect and I'm unsure how to go about it. Does anyone have any recommendations? Edited February 6, 2022 by thetalkinlens
DCB
Climbing over check rails usually means too tight B to B If it has the driving wheels where you can see the axle ends I just get a large screwdriver between wheel and chassis and very gently ease it out evenly applying pressure to left and right of the wheel alternately. If its the old split axle type, I don't think it can be, forget it. Bin it. Those split axle wheels fall off if you mess with them, and if you don't sometimes. Peco Code 100 take Hornby Dublo moulded wheels which are 14.2mm Back to Back so I use 14.2 sliding fit as my standard B to B. Don't forget to tweak the pickups if you increase the B to B significantly Edited February 23, 2022 by DCB
