Taunton April 24th 2022 - the 'BGMan Bazaar'

I thought I would post a separate thread, to avoid this getting 'lost' in the main Taunton Members Day thread.

Whilst John F (Re6/6) and I are bringing and operating his layout, we are also bringing a very considerable amount of 'stuff' from the estate of the late Grahame Hitchen ('bgman').

His Grace, the Honourable Sheepbloke has most kindly granted us some table space to display these various items, which will all be for disposal to anyone interested.

The overall name given to the process of disposing of these assets at the RMWeb Day is 'The BGMan Bazaar'.

This will probably take the form of one of these categories:

Either:

i) for sale (at very low prices, most items 50p or £1)

or:

ii) 'Free to a Good Home' (or any home, come to that), although a donation made at the show to the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity - https://www.bwhospitalscharity.org.uk/ - would be appreciated.

The sorts of things that will be available are:

- unbuilt kits

- materials of various kinds

- some tools

- built (or part-built) kits or RTR items of varying ages and in varying conditions

- some part dismantled RTR items, which may (or may not, we can't confirm or deny) be complete, but where the individual components could be useful or could form a 'project' for someone who decides that they have the technology to rebuild it

There will also be the bulk of Grahame's MRJ collection, all copies of which are in good condition and will be 'free to a good home'.

Indeed, some of this stuff could perhaps be termed 'model railway bric-a-brac'. If we have selected any given item for taking to Taunton, it is because we felt that whatever it was, was too good to just throw away but not the sort of thing that would be individually worth listing on the classifieds on RMWeb or another forum or on EBay.

Depending on how the remainder of the estate is disposed of, there may also be some books (subject to confirmation).

For space reasons, it is quite possible that some of the above items might find their way to the official 'Bring & Buy' table or may even be found for disposal c/o other people's layouts.

We really, really don't want to have to take any of this back home with us, so please do come along and support the 'BGMan Bazaar'.

We have agreed with Grahame's family that all financial proceeds from the day will go to the Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity.

Just to add to CK's announcement, most items are priced very low (in some cases ridiculously low for what one might be buying!) For example, there will be a few lengths of Peco '00' with some points and some lengths of 'N' gauge. There will also be a monstrous amount of paint (Humbrol, Vallejo, various acrylics and much much more) These will be free but please consider a generous dip into your pockets to donate to the hospital trust that looked after Grahame. Please bring lots of

£ and 50p pieces!

Imagine a clear out of your own model 'bric-a-brac' and it will give you an idea of what could be there!
