What makes SWAG successful

As the members of the collective known as "The Noble Realm of SWAG" are meeting today, I am prompted to ask why SWAG seems to be the only area group that is thriving?

There must be more to their longevity than pastries and pasties. Why have other groups and proposals for groups fallen by the wayside?
