paul 27
I would like 63794 this was an 04/8 class with a B1 boiler any one converted this from the Bachmann model and what parts did they use that is if it is possible, not looking for an exact replica might be easier to convert to an 04/04 and just change the cab, any one make these cabs as a direct replacement, Edited May 2, 2022 by paul
Ravenser
Never attempted this sort of thing but..... The old Replica/Bachmann B1 had a split chassis, which was notorious for failing . For some years Bachmann sold replacement split chassis for locos , so that people could revive models that had succumbed. Logically the obvious source of a B1 boiler would therefore be the bodyshell of an old type split-chassis B1 where the chassis has failed
Steamport Southport
Loads of bodies about. Replica were selling them for £10 with a tender until recently. Seem to be gone though. They still have the valve gear. http://www.replicarailways.co.uk/mainsep1/menuspares There has been a few articles in the model railway press on doing the conversion. Don't know the dates though. If I find the dates I'll post them. Jason
micklner
My o4/8 conversion using a Bachmann B1 body. It was also shown on here on my thread, sadly virtually all the photos are gone at the moment. https://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1624&start=660 Plus this very good O4 thread is worth reading. https://www.lner.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2141&hilit=Bachmann+announce+o4&start=

As far as I know they are both the same moulding. Nothing obvious on the outside of the body , at least. Bachmann B1 bodies are often on ebay. No, only the O4 Footplate and original Chassis/Cylinders/ Wheels were retained on the O4/8. Above footplate is all Thompson. paul 27
Yes realised this i was thinking of an 04/4 but then that would not work either having a 02 boiler, not an easy fix then.
John Tomlinson
Mousa Models were thinking of producing a resin moulded smokebox, boiler and cab for the 04/8, I don't know if this has happened yet. They have done this for an 04/7 already. John.

I keep meaning to order one, but haven't yet as there are several variants so you need to choose a prototype first. IIRC there is a member "Clem" who posts sometimes on Wright Writes, I think he has done a Mousa 04/7. John.

stewartingram
No pics as yet, but I've done the Hornby Mag conversion, using a Bachmann O4 and an old B! body & tender (Replica or similar, not too sure of its exact parentage but you'll know which I mean). Do you know which issue this was in would like to see pictures, was it a fairly easy conversion.
