Jol Wilkinson
London Road Models have now introduced the kit for the LNWR 4ft 0-4-2T Crane Tank. Introduced between 1892 and 1894, several of these small Crane Tanks lasted in LMS ownership until 1947. They were based on the 0-4-0 4ft Shunter, one of which is preserved by the NRM. The kit features a one-piece resin cast, boiler/saddle tank/smokebox/firebox including chimney dome and safety valve. The resin casting is hollow to allow weight to be added, and has sufficient space to fit our Mashima motor and gearbox combination. The kit builds the long jib 3-ton capacity version, with 3D printed gearing (non-working) The rest of the kit is traditionally etched in brass for the body, with both of the cab variants, and a nickel silver chassis, including dummy details between the frame . The rest of the castings are in brass and nickel silver. Kit price is £135.00 motorising set is £34.30 and is post free. Further details and photos of the test build model can be found in RMweb/Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding/LNWR Crane Tank and Shunting Engine Kit Edited May 11, 2022 by Jol Wilkinson Amended text 7
