sncf231e
Last week I acquired a Kraus-Fandor 0-4-0 clockwork loco that did not ran very far when I tried it. I already have a similar Kraus-Fandor loco and noticed that the spring of the new one was quite different (smaller). So I ran the old one and noticed it ran much further then the new one. Loco only it ran more than 60 meters (which I think is more than any other loco I have). So I organised a contest with this loco and similar sized BING and Distler clockwork 0-4-0's. The (old) Kraus-Fandor was the winner! By the way: I think the BING looks better with the Kraus-Fandor Mitropa cars, but it was not a beauty contest 😉 . brianusa
Interesting results! Since most of this type of train ends up on basic train set curves, it makes a big difference when run on sweeping curved track. Research such as this can lead to great fun with the most humble train set and a big change from the usual big boys trains seen herein. Brian.
