drt7uk
Hi folks, I've just added a Faller steam pumping engine to my layout and I'd like to find a slow speed motor I can put under the layout to use to spin it. Similarly I have a police box that currently rotates manually on a Lego plate, but again if I had a slow speed motor it would be cool to see it spinning. Battery powered fine, nether need to be on continuously. Just want something slow speed and relatively cheap. Sorry if this has been covered on the forum many times before, please let me know if there's a thread on this already. Thanks in advance
Giles
An N20 gearmotor from eBay is your answer available from about 30rpm up for around £3 from China, from 3v up to 12v. If you want slower speed, get a slow speed 12v one and run it on 1.5v.
LimboBrit
You could try something like this.... https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/micro-metal-gearmotor-extended-back-shaft?variant=32587851338 1

drt7uk
Thanks very much everyone, I bought an N20 motor. Just need to find a rubber tyre to put on the end of it to help spin the pumping engine wheel. Will report back !
drt7uk
Btw I'm going to use a Lego wheel with a smooth rubber tyre to turn the big wheel of the pumping engine underneath the layout. Please let me know if you've got a better idea!

Please let me know if you've got a better idea! That should work. You could also use one or more 'O' rings instead of a tyre.
