Web page compromised

I have been on a page titled GWR wagon oddities and on page 5  there is a reply from davidbr with the instructions to click on Raymond Walleys  description of building this wagon. On clicking on this it brought up a Chinese porn site unsuitable for our hobby. I don't know if it my I-pad but this has never happened before.  I thought I better bring it to your attention.

Sorry I dont know how to post links. I am not very good with technology.

It's in this one.  I would guess as the link was posted nine years ago that the website had fallen dormant and the domain name taken over by an organisation of somewhat dubious origin.

EDIT - I think it has been dealt with?

I have looked for the post and removed the link on here.

The correct thing to do is report the relevant post and we look into it - rather than sending us on a treasure hunt.

The late Raymond Walley's original web pages are available on the Gauge 0 Guild's web site:

AY mod, sorry I'm not very well up on modern technology.  I just knew it should not be on a model forum. Apologies again.

Mike

If you have clicked on something dodgy, make sure you do a full security scan to make sure there isn't any viruses/cookies lingering.

Steamport Southport, again I don't have any knowledge on how to do a full security scan.

If I have to anything with computers I have to ask my children who all have left home many years ago.

I am the original Luddite.

is it a normal PC computer? Such as a laptop or desktop.

Go to SETTINGS and then click on Windows Security and you should get a screen like this.

Click on Virus & Threat Protection.

Then Scan Options.

Then click the Full Scan option. It will then perform a scan.

It's really worth doing as if you get a virus in your computer it can be devastating to your computer. And I'm afraid those Chinese (and other) websites really do want to do harm to your computer.

I had a virus warning seemingly relating to an RMWEB page. As I had several pages open at the time, I do not know which one was responsible.

Go into your browser history. You should be able to track down which page gives you the warning and then send Andy the link to the relavent page ?

I understand that not everyone is good at computers, but when such things happen, you CANNOT ignore it.

Ask someone you trust for assistance, failing that then you need professional assistance.

Well many of us have been following those photos of the development of Accurascale's Deltic.  If that doesn't count I don't know what does?
