Steve Taylor
We've had layouts using box-files and various other storage objects on here, but has anyone done anything with a picture frame? The reason I ask? Well sat under my desk is a standard ikea picture frame with a wooden border and a hardboard back (700x500mm) after the glass broke. It seemed a shame to throw it out - it might be usefull etcetc but now its getting irritating. I reckon i can get a reasonable photo-diorama in that space but am not sure whether it worthwhile. Anyone else gone down this route or am I just making a rod for my own back and should get back to sensible sized things?
cromptonnut
If you can do something without spending too much money, or time, then I'd say give it a try - then if it all goes horribly wrong you haven't wasted too much.
RMweb Premium Mike Bellamy Posted June 23, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 23, 2010 Already been done with a narrow gauge layout called 'Picture This' which can be seen about half way down this page http://www.uckfieldmrc.co.uk/memberslnf.html Hope that helps - good luck Mike
28XX
But if you wanted to actually hang it on a wall, a length of N (or 009) track with a high retaining wall or factory block behind would be barely 2" deep.....
Steve Taylor
Hmm, hadn't thought literally to make a framed layout, just to use the constraints of a given board size, however that might prove interesting but I'm not busting the box frames just to give it a go. Ta for the Uckfield link btw - most interesting.
